2015 GMC 2500HD CrewCab Duramax Vibration...

Recommended Posts

Took truck in for steering wheel vibration and dealer did a road force balance. I still feel a little vibration now. Maybe because I'm trying to hard to feel it . But, it feels normal now. They said all tires where out of balance. There are now large weights on all tires that I can see. I thought weights now days went on inside of rim.

I'm still at the dealership! 2 weeks and no ideas from them. They actually are getting an attitude with me! I have been nothing but polite and honest with them and because 8k out of town they just give me the run around. Starting to get pissed off.

I'm told they have found the problem... I am out of town and due back wed afternoon. I cant say I buy the reasoning but hope they are on top of it.

Reason: Crap oem wheels. These are hub centric wheel assemblies, every time they're installed they center differently. Which would give the same effect as an oblong tire... They apparently discovered this by test driving the truck and measuring the vibration with their new tool, after one of the test drives that had measurable vibration the tech removed the two rear wheels on one side and rotated them on the same hub (rotated them on the studs) and re drove the truck. No vibration. Reported to be "perfect" by the head service mgr that rode with me 4xs prior and has acknowledged the problem...

Thoughts? I'll update when I get to drive it.

If it's just wheels I'll buy aftermarket ones and eat it. Doesn't sound like I'll get any support from the dealership but I'll try in person wed.

I thought oem hub centric wheels where supposed to fit perfect because they fit the hub with no centric ring. If you buy aftermarket rims they will use centric rings to help fill the gap between aftermarket rim and hub. Aftermarket rims can be misaligned due to the fact they don't fit perfect, right?

I have a 2015 3500hd Single wheel Dinali It's not the wheels. I have 35 inch toyo Open country tires with rockstar 2 rims. And I'm still getting the vibration. Iv put the stock tires back one for a few days and it's the same vibration.

I think it's the transmission. maybe a shutter in the transmission sticking. I have 48 000 km on my truck now.

Just bought a 2015 GMC Denali and put a leveling kit on it. It has a horrible hum from 65 to 70. If I let it stay in that range it gets worse. I try to avoid driving at that speed because it is almost deafening. I believe this leads to a very dangerous driving situation. I would love help with this as it is a $64000 dollar truck!

I'm looking at buying a 2015 gas 2500 Denali and came upon this thread. For those who have this problem, when you test drove it did you not notice the vibration? I have test driven one but I didn't know to be aware of this issue. I will test drive again on the freeway. Will it be a "noticeable" vibration?

I had a Toyota Tundra limited that had ridiculous "bed bounce", so I don't want to make this mistake again.

Thanks.

Yep...first post. ;-)

Drive truck at a steady 55-60 mph and take your hand off steering wheel. You will notice instantly. The steering wheel will move a inch left to right. Passenger seat will have vibaration with nobody sitting in it. I didn't test drive my truck.

I have a 2015 2500HD with Duromax. It rides like a freaking Cadillac, best truck I've ever had, and I've had Dodge Cummins and Ford gasser. No vib's and I can actually

carry on a converstion with my passinger and hear the radio now. Something that was unheard of in my Dodge. Did this vibration start from begining or at what mileage.

I've got about 5,000 miles on mine and smooth as silk! Knock on wood.

Hi everyone,

Just picked up my new 2015 GMC 2500HD CrewCab Duramax SLT on thursday and have loved it, until yesterday when I took it on the highway.... around 65-75mph the truck starts vibrating entirely, can feel ,y seat vibrating and passenger seat vibrating as well as contents of vehicle vibrating. Unfortunately coudlnt contact dealer as they were closed for day but I will be reaching out first thing monday morning to figure out wth is going on with my $61k truck with 150 mile on it. kinda frustrating.

enough of the rant, does anyone have any thoughts on this? A bit of late night online research found people saying it needs tires roadforce tested or worse, that I will just have to live with it as there is no fix?

Thanks in advance for any help.

BTW, this truck is an upgrade to the 2014 GMC sierra 1500 i was driving and loved, just needed someing bigger, so i know they can build a great truck.

I have the exact same issue.........I've had my tires/wheels road force balanced and shocks exchanged by the dealer based on the recommendations of the FSE from GM working with my vehicle. They did the same thing, reducing tire pressures to try to hide the problem but it is still there. It is magnified when you load a 5th wheel on. Unbelievable.

Brett I forgot to mention my truck has the full size bed, not sure if that makes a difference. I don't see many on the road. It is a bitch to park, trying to find a parking stall where the tail doesn't stick out in the roadway.

Hi,

I've noticed this problem since I've owned the truck I get a vibration at 48 mph to 54 mph then it goes away. When I drove it off the lot I thought I was just being paranoid since my 1500 had a bad u-joint that caused a bad vibration and I was just imagining it.

However when I've had two separate passengers point it out to me I knew it was not just me. Sometimes I forget about it because it's only within those speeds but I fear this could lead to a bigger problem down the road.

So has anyone diagnosed this yet?

Thanks,

TB77
