I know! another leveling kit question

Recommended Posts

I did a search on them and see most are going with a 2-2.5 leveling kit but some are also talking about "blocks" in the rear. are they needed if I put a leveling kit on and what are they for?

here is what I was thinking of running. give me your thoughts. please understand I know Nothing about anything regarding lifts(first truck I have thought about doing this with).

I was going to run a 2-2.5 rc leveling kit, a 3 in body lift(not sure what brand) and 275-70-18 tires.

it will be on a 2012 sierra z71.

should I change anything? is it going to look or function crappy?

again any help would be wonderful

No if you put a leveling kit on you don't need to put taller blocks in the rear. Trucks sit higher in the rear from the factory because when hauling the truck will sit level with the weight in the bed now all a leveling kit does is raise the front to sit level unloaded now with a load in the bed it will drop in the rear lower then the front so if you put the taller blocks in the rear with the leveling kit then your back to the rear up higher then the front. If your looking for a level truck stance just do the front and not the rear.

I will tell you this 2" is max on the front leveling kit any more you will greatly increase wear on the frontend parts, 2" you will still wear parts but not as fast as a 2.5", common wear parts are ball joints and CV joints because it puts them at angles which there not designed to operate at.

Some people add a bigger lift block with the leveling kit to raise the whole thing.

I'm not into body lifts. They're cheap but it's a lot of work you have to do to get everything to fit. With the amount of work you do it would be better in my opinion to just do a suspension lift. Body lifts seem to be easier on older trucks, but with newer stuff it's a lot more into it. I watched a video on a body lift for my '14 and it made me dislike body lifts even more. Plus I don't like the look of the cab and bed being that far off of the frame, just doesn't look right.
