GET YOUR QUICK FIX BELOW !! (not suggested for new vehicles) After searching the internet for hours and viewing many Youtube videos like some guy cutting, lol I mean chopping through the EGR Tubing it with a reciprocating saw because he could not remove the 22mm fitting on top of his Vortec Manifold then using a $80 socket type extractor to remove it just to put it back on and piece tube back together with silicone hose which is a good / funny video we all should watch and learn from I gave it a Like. Ya know things that make ya go hmmmm? I needed this fix and needed it now because that 22mm fitting had haulted my upper and lower intake gaskets project.

OKAY, HERE'S THE HACK !! First off when in doubt think it out then look for your "hack" saw and whip it out. If you are worried about the 22mm heater hose fitting rounding off, snapping, collapsing or that silly Heater Hose Quick Connect plastic clip breaking or the fitting shearing off at on lower manifold because of inferior wrenches or the fittings age and condition my only advice is don't do it. Do this, simply pull back the braided heat protective sleeve from the metal coupler and slide sleeve up about 8" and you will see smooth round tubing use a wrench or calipers to check tube size for O.D. then take a "hack" saw or whatever and cut away about a 1" pc of this tubing and toss it and Call: Maryland Metrics and ask for pricing and availability ask for John, tell him Derick sent ya and that ya need Part # 0106 15 00 "15mm Brass Straight Union" (compression fitting) 15mm is the outside dimension of this GM Tubing and it's good to 1700 Deg (F) or better yet get the "Steel" part # G-15L good to temps up to 2500 Deg (F) at a cost around $14 plus shipping you can't go

wrong. Brass was not in stock at time of my purchase. Take this part and put tubing back together, it's as easy as installing a fuel line repair kit ! No bull, no mess and no stress.

Now as for that silly Heater Hose Quick Disconnect as many have read as I did but after I mangled my plastic clip and feared even the thought of putting a wrench on that big cheap looking part thats prone to snap off, your just delaying project and asking for trouble if your vehicle is older like mine is and seen 13 winters in upper New England close to the ocean for either of these parts, it's as EZ as don't do it if you think it may break. Do this, just cut through the hose and simply connect it back together with a Hose Connector and 2 Band Clamps. Both of these jobs can be accomplished successfully in just a matter of minutes.

Maryland Metrics has been in bussiness for almost 50 years and in case you need different sizes for different vehicles or hard to find parts like this for other applications the. http://mdmetric.com/prod/legris/section_g.pdf or order straight from http://mdmetric.com home page w/secure ordering with tons of stuff from over 900 suppliers. Just scroll down and find part #0106 15 00 im not sure where Steel one is just search site for part no. G-15L or just ask John for one. He's very friendly and helpful.

All opinions and ideas to make this a better fix are more than welcomed, thanks for reading and I hope it saves many people time, money and frustration, Good Luck !

Update: Order 16mm Straight Union" (compression fitting) (1) Expose tubing. (2) Cut tubing with saw (3) while lower intake is off the engine use tubing cutter to make 2 clean cuts. (4) reconnect with compression fitting.
