Plastidip OEM Wheels?

Recommended Posts

Anybody on here plasti dipped their stock wheels? Particularly on the heavy duty trucks, I'm considering doing mine on my 05 2500HD. I think it would look pretty nice. What do you guys think?

What color are you planning to plastidip them? That makes a huge difference on how good it will look IMO.

But at the end of the day, it is your truck and it is your decision. Like Ryan said, go for it. It's not permanent so if you decide you don't like it, take it off!

But just a headsup, if you want to leave it for a week or so to see if you do like it, make sure you apply around 5 coats to be sure that it will come off easy. After sitting out in the sun for 2 days it will dry and cure very well and only applying 2-3 coats will make it very difficult to pull off after a few days.

I plan on just plain black, just think it would look good since I have a kind of storm trooper theme going, white with black accents.

Nice! Ya I can't justify paying hundreds of dollars on new wheels, plus I like the look of my stock wheels, just think black would finish off the look.

Just ask to, has anyone tried applying plasti dip with a chrome wheels? If so what are the procedures on applying and doing it?

Mine where chrome. Just do the same thing as you would with any other wheel. I go ahead and clean the wheel with "perfect glass" glass cleaner. Seems to clean the rims the best so the dpi sticks better. I start off by applying thin coats until it starts to look like a real coat. So after about 2 to 3 thin thin coats, you can start to apply thicker coats.
