My first post here.

I need a sanity check on my next move please.

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 w/DL3 mirrors. I swapped the tow mirrors and harnesses from a 2015 GMC 2500.

Part numbers:

Driver mirror 84041609

Passenger mirror 84041611

Driver harness 23342727

Pass harness 23342716

Everything works except lights, Amber front and rear cargo/reverse.

Power fold, remote memory, reverse tilt, memory 1 & 2, turn signal all work.

I reviewed the chart on page 75. It appears I only need the RZY (23387133) harness to get the lights working properly. I THINK.

I searched this topic for these part numbers and found no mention of any of them here.

Am I on the right track? If so are there instructions on installing this aux harness anywhere?

Thanks

With 2014 - you're likely missing the (2) pins in the door hinge (body side connector). If so, you'll need the RZY Harness. The harness is pre-made with the pins so that they can be inserted into the door connector. Easiest way to check is before removing the door connector in the and taking a photo of the body side connector.

Since the Turn Signal was working before, you should have Pin # 41.

Here are the instructions for the RZY Harness. It is the only copy I could. It is black and white. It also looks like a printed, then scanned copy so some of the images don't show.

Hey all just had a question - did anyone conquer the task of getting the amber running lights do dual function as turn signals as well? I'm guessing its just adding a diode as well as connecting to the turn signal power wire on the harness... I've searched but come up empty=P If anyone has an answer I would very greatly appreciate it!!!

Hey! I have been wanting to do this since I got mine a few weeks back. Haven't gotten around to it yet but I have some resistors on order that should be here tomorrow so I can try it.

This guy has a pretty good video that I have watched and this is how I plan to do mine. I have seen him on the forum and he has posted this video somewhere on the forum.

Anyway, here it is...

Hope this helps!

Yo jaymiles thanks for that - did it work yet?

Hey, just tried it thursday night, works good, I actually used a 47ohm resistor and it worked good, that way the running lights aren't TOO dim. I also did it in the harness behind the door panel as I dont believe there is a safe way to get into the inside of these aftermarket mirrors. Rather simple and easy, I soldered all my connections and electrical tape over so it looks good. It got late so I haven't done the passenger side yet but it works and looks good, just how I was hopin!

good to know thanks jay. Ya actually just did it myself an hour ago. Works great but so little amount of space in there to make it clean lol. I used the 470 ohm but not sure how I'll like it yet.

Ya, I tried the 470 and it left it a lil too dim for my liking. Nice thing about the harness was that I had plenty of room to get in there and solder

Where did ya'll run the parking light wire, I can't find anything in the cab that is hot for that wire, only under the hood is were I can find one and will have to run a wire through the firewall

With 2014 - GM didn't deliver the park lamp circuits to the door hinge connector on either driver or passenger sides, hence the need for the RZY Harness. I worked with another member here (might have been Jaymiles007), and found that a tap in the BCM that worked. Left low beam supply and right low beam supply is what was tapped for park lamps. Let me look into and get back to you. Another thread I read is someone used the led indicator circuit in the door panel. Same circuit as what lights up the window button switches in the door bezel.

Hey! So originally I wired mine into the Right low beam supply voltage in the BCM (as pgamboa said). This had them on I believe all day but only while in drive. In park they were not on until night time. That wasn't bad for me but I decided I wanted them to work slightly different. So just recently I wired mine into the accessory voltage circuit and also into the dome light circuit. This way, anytime you unlock the truck they will fade on and then when you leave the truck they will fade off. Any time you have the key in the accessory or on position they will be on as well. So they will be on from unlock to lock with this way I have it now. I did use diodes directed from my taps to the clearance lights so I didn't have any reverse current sending accessory power to my dome lights lol.

Hope this made sense and helped a lil!

Nice idea! So you tied your clearance lamp to the ACC circuit.

Then a diode from the dome lamp circuit to your tap (diode stripe facing the tap)?

I like that. Key in the ACC position and clearance lights are on. ACC off and you can turn clearance lights on with the dome lamp switch.

Definitely a good idea to look into, since my truck didn't come with any power options on the mirror besides adjust and defrost I had to hardwire everything and add a switch for the powerfold, I probably could have done like some and replace a bunch of harnesses and switches but i didn't, just now I have the clearance lights as blinkers but want them to be both, I ordered the conversion kit I saw on YouTube were they took the whole mirror apart to install it but I'm not going to do that, I'm just going to install it under the dash were I made all my other connections.

Trying to follow everything. I have a 2015 Sierra Denali 1500, if I want to upgrade my stock power fold mirrors to the power fold tow mirrors I will need

Part numbers:
Driver mirror 84041609
Passenger mirror 84041611 or 23351796 (whats the difference)

Which harness numbers will I need?

Thanks in advance
