2014/15+ HD PowerFold OEM Tow Mirrors (The Ones We've Been Waiting

Ok so I just got mine, opted out for the powerfold but has everything else. My old ones had everything. Now I sat here and read thru a bunch of the 95 pages, and my head began to spin.

How can I get the marker lights to work with the lights on and use as with my blinkers. And make the leds come on as puddle lights.

Thanks.

Very first post shows about the LEDs.

Ron,

If you don't mind the lack of cosmetic flow (factory look), the separate switch for the LEDs is the best way to go. It won't work as intended if you wire to the cargo switch (it shuts off in reverse on the non 15.5's) and there's a hack to insert a diode between the reverse and cargo circuit, but then they ALWAYS come on in reverse. That's not ideal either.

I'm working with engineering to get the stock BCM calibration changed on the early 15's so they behave like the AVF trucks. It is a simple change on their end - in fact, I flashed an AVF calibration to my BCM to test and the cargo light operates in Reverse as desired, so it is possible. Unfortunately, you can't leave that calibration as the other modules will complain.

There is a dialogue with engineering. If it ever gets changed - I'll be sure to update this topic. You'll then be able to go to the dealer and get your BCM reflashed for a fee - or if someone is in/around Michigan, I may be willing to do it.

I'm with you AceMI, I wanted to be able to use the lights anytime I wanted, as cargo or as reverse lights. As far as the switch goes they have some switches that are cosmetically appealing, and I can put it in an inconspicuous if needed. I'm very happy with the mirrors aesthetically and now I will be happy with the way the ambers and the led's work. Even if the factory was to work a fix to the bcm I doubt that I would change what I have.

I agree, I want mine on a seperate switch. The problem I am having is deciding where to put the switch. I have an Z71 LTZ, 4WD. Any thoughts or suggestions on where to locate it?

I'm having mine installed on Tuesday the 2nd. I will take a picture of the switch and location and post here.

What are "puddle Lights"?

Lights that come on when truck is unlocked or door is open. Basically it's like an exterior dome light but they won't come on with the dome light switch.

I have mine coming on when the reverse lights come on. That makes them come on when you use the fob to unlock the doors and they stay on until they time out after a remote lock. I really like it that way, and no extra switch is needed.

It seems like their best use is when backing a trailer.

I agree that the best use is in reverse, however I tow a large 5th wheel trailer and I can use the extra light when connecting/disconnecting. If they are as bright as I have heard then they will be of use when I prepare the trailer for towing ie., lifting the leveling jacks, making the electrical connections and just doing a walkaround. Each to his/her own.

Just bridge the reverse and cargo lights in the BCM and voila! Perfect. I'm going to do this. 2 minutes and 6 inches of wire.

Let me know how it turns out.

I have a 2015i High Country HD. This truck would be one that is built after August 14th, 2014 and has a VIN Number of over 500,000. The previous mentioned date and also VIN above 500000, signifies the Mid-Year Upgrade is my understanding. I think it is RPO Code AVF which is a newer dash harness. Where I am heading with all of this, is that we have compared the full dash harnesses to my HC (currently has Small DL3 Mirrors) vs an HC that has the DQS Towing Mirrors. It appears the dash harness is indeed the same, regardless of the mirror style (keep in mind the dash harness is involved with this as it powers the door harnesses). With all of that being said, our only variances in part numbers are the actual door harnesses and the mirrors themselves.

What I'm wondering has anyone mastered plug and play success on the 2015i trucks yet by simply swapping the door harnesses and mirrors?
