2014/15+ HD PowerFold OEM Tow Mirrors (The Ones We've Been Waiting

I ordered my mirrors early last week and installed them Sunday. Thanks for the quick shipping SuperchargedSS! Does anyone have pictures or a video on how to wire the marker lights and LEDs? I just want to make sure I do not mess up the BCM.

It would be awesome if someone posted a video or pictures of the process!

So update on my process...my mirrors are installed and working properly. I have the DL8 code. My factory mirrors were just standard mirrors with no power fold and no turn signals. My factory door harness did not have turn signal wiring and installing the pigtail harness and the driver switch did absolutely nothing. Here's what I did...I ran a momentary reversing switch and mounted in a nice spot on door panel. The factory harness did have the wires for power fold so I cut them at the mirror switch and ran them to the momentary reversing switch. I also got my constant power and ground from mirror switch. Now power fold works! Now I ran 2 new wires through the door harness on driver side...one for turn signal and one for led light. I ran 3 through passenger door harness. One for turn signal, one for led, and one for amber lights. The amber lights in tied into a wire running out of passenger side fuse block (will give pin out number and wire color shortly). I then ran led and turn signal wires and pinned into the bcm on driver side ( will also post pics and pin out numbers shortly). Now at mirror harness, I had to jump the ground wire to a second ground wire...factory harness only has one ground but apparently mirror requires two wires to be grounded. After all that it all works! I can give more details, pictures, wire colors, and pin outs once I get home or to anyone who PMs me. I spent countless hours repining harness, looking at wiring diagrams, etc to try and get my factory power fold switch to work but seems because I don't have memory seats, it was not gonna happen.

Can you post pics of how this looks if you have any and don't mind posting them? I have seen one or 2 guys on insta with their ambers smoked on their mirrors but can't help to tell the process or removing or anything since they have all had a shop do it for them.

I am going to take it apart again today and record it so you can see how. It's not that hard seeing that I just got these on Wednesday night, pulled it apart to clean it yesterday and put it back together within a matter of 5 minutes.

Exactly what I am doing!!

The link below is how to remove just about everything on the Mirror. It is a little rough when you get to removing the amber light because this is not easy to do alone or with a partner as you can see, and I haven't figured out an easier way to get this off.

Great info Block8head. So if I want to wire the amber as a running light a new wire has to be ran to the fusepanel as well? Also when you say slot 1,2,13.......is this as follows

123456789

1011121314151617.....

I'm trying to guage the level of effort to wire the spotlights to come on when in reverse/cargo and the ambers to be used as running lights. I have a buddy at a body shop ordering me the mirrors and i've had the drivers side on for about two weeks now. The passenger sides have been broken in the box twice now. This only after I had to send back a 67 mirror in exchange for the 69 mirror because this is going on a Duramax.

yes.

If you look closely on the plug you will see the number on it. ;)

Yes I do have full function but not everything works the way the GM intended it to. By this I mean that I have the ambers on the mirrors set as just turn signals. Not as clearance lights. I was going to make them clearance lights but now that I disabling my amber running lights in the headlight, why have it on the mirrors? I have found a way to make everything work with just a few simple steps. Check out post #673 in this thread and it'll show you how to make the ambers work as turn signals and the white lights will work as puddle lights but also on when the cargo lights are on. All without having to run any wires. BUT YOU DO NEED TO CUT A FEW.

I'm having issues finding post 673.

Hey all, just wanted to add this info to the thread incase anyone is looking for a very simple way to wire in these mirrors so that the white lights activate with the cargos and the ambers act as turn signals (as far as I know theres no way to make them into running lights without having to run a wire to the ambers)

Also, I can only guarantee that this will work by this method with a 14' 1500 Sierra (should be the same with a 14' 1500 Silverado). I am not sure on 15'+ 1500 or 2500s. I can't imagine that it would be much different though if at all.

ALL MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE ON THE MIRROR HARNESS, the door harness is left untouched.

So all you will need for this is some wire cutters, 2 quick wire splices, and a diode

You will want to cut the orange wire on the mirror's harness a few inches away from the plug (the farther the better but I don't think you need anymore than 5-6" coming from the plug to keep this easy)

So after you cut the orange wire you will splice it into the Red/Blue wire which is for your turn signals on the mirror side. So now you have the ambers working as turn signals

Next to get the white lights to work as puddle lights you will be able to just splice the yellow wire to the orange wire that is now coming out of the mirror harness plug since that is connected to the puddle lights.

BUT WAIT, you're probably wondering why I originally said that they will work with the cargo lights, not the puddle lights. Well heres where the diode comes into place.

Inspired by the "Cargo lights on with reverse" and "Fogs on with high beams" mods, I decided it'd be worth a shot to make the puddle lights turn on with the cargos.

In the end, your mirror harness will look something like this

43B45652-5717-466F-B5CF-E0437DE8A75B_zps

This is from Morrislee who made his cargo lights turn on with the puddle lights. SO in order to make the puddle lights work the cargo lights, you will have to put the diode in the opposite way from how it is pictured. SO the stripe will be on the same side as the grey plug and not the pink.

I decided that using this picture would be more beneficial to everyone since it is much cleaner. I have 3 diodes in this area so since there is only one in this picture, it is much easier to see what needs to be done.

EDIT:

For those of you on tapatalk I am just now realizing that Morris's picture is not coming up. So here's a link to the post: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/164156-cargo-lights-on-with-reverse-lights/?p=1533886 (Post #64 in the "cargo lights on with reverse lights" thread)

And here's the pictures he posted: (like I said earlier, the diode will need to be reversed. I just want to make sure that anyone who does this remembers to reverse the diode because without doing that, it won't work properly)
