Pardon my chicken scratch, but I'm pretty sure this can also be accomplished with two SPDT relays (The ones with the 87a connector on them.) as shown below.

Just make sure your SPDT relays don't have a diode in them, and you can use them in this manner.

If you wanted to get fancy, you could do both mirrors with three total relays; one for parking, and one for each side's turn signal. I didn't scratch out a diagram for that.

Or, if you're kind of nuts, you can make a microcontroller that will do what you want. I designed these boards for just that purpose. I will be able to pulse-width modulate my tow mirror parking lamps when they arrive and I assemble them.

are you willing to divulge more on the micro controller or sell those to people that want to make the amber be a running light and turn signal?

and also, would that micro controller keep the light on between blinks with different voltage, for instance half the light output in between blinks, then full on blinks?

Yes, the board can operate as you're describing, but it doesn't actually change the voltage out to the mirror LEDs. Instead, it adjusts the brightness by changing the duty cycle of the power output to them.

To put it another way, it turns the LEDs on and off so fast as to be imperceptible to the human eye that they're actually turning on and off; they simply appear dimmer than they would if they were constantly receiving a 12V input all the time.

I don't have any plans to sell them;

I also don't mind giving out information about them, but this probably isn't the topic to go into too much more detail about them. If people are really interested, I can start a new topic.

Thanks. I would love it for you to start a thread on this project. If not, please pm me if you could on the details of how to get this to work. Thanks again.

Huge price increase from GM today. [emoji52]

When will the price reflect the increase? Can we order today at the original price?

EDIT: Just read the first post... DAMN! Should of ordered them last week.

how come you are selling your personal set? Is there something special about the price increase? i.e. there will be some added functions to the mirrors that resulted in the price increase, although I can't imagine what functions they could add. These mirrors already do plenty

I bought a second set that's getting smoothed and painted right now. I had a defect on my driver side to one of those is still new.

The mirror price was raised for whatever reason. Maybe to bail GM out of all these recalls. I don't know.

Where's the dislike button? :shakehead:

I put together a thread about the turn signal controller I created:

http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/168139-adding-turn-signals-to-2015-hd-tow-mirrors/

I'm looking forward to getting them on the truck, but it's way too cold up here in the north to get them installed for a few more days. Single digit weather is just too brutal for me.

My guess is GM saw how many were selling thru parts/dealers and it was cutting into their supply for new trucks. Supply & demand at work.
