2014/15+ HD PowerFold OEM Tow Mirrors (The Ones We've Been Waiting

You're welcome. I used 6 to do one setup for each side on my car years ago, but you could do it with only 5 and use one main to control the parking light control. Just depends on if it is easier to run two wires all the way across or use a sixth relay. You could maybe find a double pole/double throw relay to do the blinker part with one. Would takes less room, but since they are less common it might cost more.

Wire colors are in the OP of this thread. I believe that it is the Orange wire that runs to the amber lights in the mirrors.

Not the clearance lights, I'm trying to hunt down the actual turn signal lights behind the mirror. Want to confirm the wire colors before I hack into my harness again.

Thanks for being helpful though Mike.

Hey yall, I'm gonna bring this up one more time. I know we were just talking about it but I'm still not 100% sure on what would be the best thing to do for this:

How to make the amber lights on the mirrors act as running lights and turn signals

I want to make sure that the motorcycle relay thing won't work because if not then I'm gonna need to start looking into something else

I disabled my amber running lights in my headlights last night but am going to install a switch to allow them to work when I need/want them to and would like to put the ambers in these mirrors to work just as the front ambers in the headlights do. That way they will always work as blinkers and hazard lights just like my front ambers do, but will also work as running lights when I flip the switch to allow the fronts to work.

I know I'm not the only one who wants these ambers to work as both running lights and turn signals. So we need to figure out how to make this happen! I'm just looking for the simplest way to do this. I can find my way around electrical work but I know I'm not the most electrically inclined so hopefully someone can shed some light for the best and easiest option.

If your front amber lights already do everything thing you like and are a single filament bulb, just run a wire from them to the mirror. If not try the motor cycle thing and you can always fall back on the relays.

Here is a quick diagram of the 3 relay control.

Pardon my chicken scratch, but I'm pretty sure this can also be accomplished with two SPDT relays (The ones with the 87a connector on them.) as shown below.

Just make sure your SPDT relays don't have a diode in them, and you can use them in this manner.

If you wanted to get fancy, you could do both mirrors with three total relays; one for parking, and one for each side's turn signal. I didn't scratch out a diagram for that.

Or, if you're kind of nuts, you can make a microcontroller that will do what you want. I designed these boards for just that purpose. I will be able to pulse-width modulate my tow mirror parking lamps when they arrive and I assemble them.

wow that was alot of reading, I have a 2015 3500 hd LT regular cab chassis truck ordered being built this week that I am making into a hooklift. For chassis options the best mirror setup I could get was rpo DPN.

I am looking to get the mirrors specifically for the led aspect for backing up to containers at night etc...

So after I read all the posts I gather that I will need a set of DQS's and a driverside switch and wire the leds to suit my needs, someone correct me if im wrong or missing something.

My main question that i need help with:

I have a regular cab so my door panel trim plate is different from all the double cabs and crew cabs have rear windows. Does the double mirror switch just get swapped out to the triple switch like the photos Ive seen in earlier posts?

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just finished install.

I just finished installing my new mirrors and they look great. My Denali was built in April and I had the tow mirrors, code DNS. The new mirrors plugged in and I now have the fold. Power adjust, heat, temp all work. The amber lights work when I unlock the doors. I did not do anything with the LED yet but will later. The only problem was with the amp instructions. There are 10 screws in the panel not 7. Took about 1 1/2 hrs total. Picture attached (hopefully)

Has anybody "manually" folded these yet? I'm just wondering if they'll be damaged if you hit/get hit by something. Some extremely rude people have folded my mirrors for me in the parking lot at work when I had manual folding mirrors....
