2014/15+ HD PowerFold OEM Tow Mirrors (The Ones We've Been Waiting

You might have already got it back on but thought I'd add this tip. Remove the upper weatherstrip and clips from the top side of the door panel. Put the strip on the door and hang the clips in the slots on the door, then just pop back into the holes on the door panel. I initially tried to slide everything back on with the strip remaining on the door panel, almost impossible to do..

Thank you cranky Apex.

I used your method to put the door panels on and it worked well.

Regards

Thanks Justice555....Problem is I have a 2014 1500 not a 2500 so no clearance lights for me.

I just finished my install a few minutes ago. For a 2014 1500 LTZ which did have black camper mirrors this is what I did.

1. Amber lights are wired as running lights and I did tap into yellow wire on main driver door harness. This will power both mirrors. Yes it will dim if you dim your dash but I can deal with that for the simplicity of the wiring. So far they act normal and are in sync with the rest of the truck. They shut off when the auto detect sunlight and turn on etc. They also flash with the key fob on unlock. I did not snip this wire as a LTZ is set up for courtesy and puddles standard. So far they shut off in sync with headlights reverse lights etc.

2. For the white LED I decided to wire them into the cargo lamp switch. I did try to power both from driver and passenger without success. You will have to run a wire for each. I ran a wire from each door into cab (which blows by the way) connected then together near the BCM and ran a tap splice into pin 26 on the pink BCM plug. Cargo switch now powers both LED lights. Interesting enough I have no LED fluctuation like other describe. I did NOT install a resistor I still have to do the cargo light reverse diode but that should be cake now. Maybe that will affect the LED fluctuation we will see. If so I left wire for resistor install under driver kick plate.

3. I now have all functions operational except reverse tilt and key fob fold.

Hope this helps others.

PS- My black camper mirrors will be going up for sale if anyone is interested. They are power adjust, turn signal, heated manual fold black camper mirrors. They do have 4 studs for 2014 and up GMC/Silverado. I'll post them and pics later.

I started wiring on the passenger side mirror and door. I wonder if that was why I was having issues with the lamps not being in Sync with the rest if the truck...

Now after a few days I found you are correct about the ambers. Mine function fine with the exception of when you get out at night and don't lock the truck. If you lock it with the key fob the ambers go off. If you leave it open they fade out with interior lights. I'm ok with that.

Hey quick question, On Leds, I ran one wire from passenger side mirror to BCM, Now I am in the process of running another wire from drivers side."Do I cut the yellow wire and run a dedcated line to that wire or just tag into it"? The mirrior harness that is. Can I tie into any of the exsiting wires on drivers side, or do I have to do like I did on passenger side? It is not fun running wires through the door to cab Grrr... Also does anyone know what wire would be on inside of cab by the BCM so maybe i wouldn't have to run through the drivers side door. Im almost done.
Thanks

Answer to #1 is yes

As for #2..I ran the wire from the passenger mirror to the drivers side and connected the two together, I then connected both to a single 1 ohm resistor and slid the end of the resistor into the BCM along side the diode used for the cargo lamp mod under the drivers side. I included a photo somewhere earlier in this thread. The thing I like about this is it keeps the connections clean and in one location..plus it was easy to do.

Hey did you run a new wire through drivers side? or tag in on one of the existing wires? Hoping I dont have to go through door to cab.

I just tagged the Ambers into the yellow on drivers door harness. That will light both. No way around pulling the white led through each door.

I ran a new one through...Really wasn't that bad, I bent a coat hanger in half so it wouldn't snag, then fished through the boot. Once through just put the wire in the groove and pulled.

I'm having a hard time following through 31 pages of bits and pieces of information. Request the owner of this thread to update the first post the following way. Side benefit for him is he'd probably get more sales with clear instructions....

- GMC Owners

-- Use these instructions if you have regular power mirrors, no memory seats

---abcd

-- Use these instructions if you have non-powerfold tow mirrors, memory seats

---abcd

Chevrolet Owners

-- Use these instructions if you have regular power mirrors, no memory seats

Still one more question - The Duramax diesels trucks have an "ambient air temperature" sensor inside the mirror. Do these mirrors have the sensor ?

Thanks

Bob Jonah

The mirrors I'm selling have the ambient air temp option on them. Yes. So you will not get issues.

I have been thinking on how to make the mirrors running lights and signal lights as well.

Can someone look at this and tell me if this would work using a 5 pin relay.

5%20Pin.jpg

Will need a 5 pin relay for each mirror

85 will be ground

86 will get the left or right signal from the mirrror

87 will be empty

87a will be mirror amber light input

30 running light input

May need to use a diode to stop back feed to other mirror amber light

Need to know the mirror signal light feed wire colors for each mirror

a 5 pin relay will work the only problem is you will have to find somewhere in the bcm or somewhere in the truck a wire that gets a positive voltage to activate the relay. it cannot be the wire that runs to the bulb signal. im not really sure how else to describe it in words but make sure the wire that you use to activate the relay has a constant voltage once the signal is activated. if you can find that wire then a 5 pin relay will let you have the mirror lights as a marker and signal. let us know if you find that wire.

Sorry for the lax of updates. I'll try to get some time this week/end to sort out the thread and update the first post with better information.

If you have had success, please PM or email me with your vehicle make model and year, what options you had (mirrors wise) and what it took to get you up and running, that would be great.

I'm also working on getting the door harnesses back. I have about 2-3 dozen in order at the moment. They are back ordered.

I have a few dozen driver and passenger side switches in stock.

I just had more mirrors shipped out while I was at SEMA last week. Those tracking numbers have been updated on PayPal.

I should have more coming this week for shipping as well.
