2014/15+ HD PowerFold OEM Tow Mirrors (The Ones We've Been Waiting

I've never had tow mirror before and I was curious about something. Now this may be a very dumb question, but are the mirrors power extending? Or does one have to manually pull the mirrors out or push them in. I already have power folding function on my stock mirrors and am curious for when I order a set of these.

Can you power fold the mirrors with your Remote fob?

Yes, the powerfold in and out works with the key fob.

No, GM has not developed power extending mirrors yet.....I wish!

I noticed on my truck that when you put on the Cargo lights and then put the truck in gear it turns the cargo lights off. Is there anyway to bypass this function? I like the ability to toggle the LED's on / off but if I can't have the cargo lights on while in gear it kind of is counter intuitive.

Look a little earlier in the thread, I mentioned and posted a link to a thread on here that shows how you can make it so that your cargo lamps will activate with your reverse lamps. That way you can hook up the tow mirrors as they are intended to be with the white lights going to the cargo lamps, but this will also make them work with the reverse lamps.

The "Diode" trick is good. The question I need to ask is, where / which wire would you tap to get power to the mirror LED's?

Dealer installed mirrors today in my 2015 Denali HD with factory tow mirrors. Install was a breeze for them, they only needed the switch and not the harness or switch plate cover for the armrest. Everything works except LEDs and front facing amber lights. The dealer told me no one in the GM support channels knows anything yet to help with making the mirrors fully functional. We need to encourage them to do so. It took some encouragement from a GM customer service rep from another forum to even get a dealer willing to do the install.

That's good info right there!

Glad we are slowly working through the kinks and getting this all dialed in. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

UPDATE- My settings menu does not show the option to enable tilt on reverse and fold from Key fob in Infotainment system. My truck clearly doesn't know it has that as an option since it came with non fold tow mirrors. I have asked the dealer to ask the GM tech line how to enable this option. I asked them to phrase the question to GM this way: a customer wants to replace their tow mirrors with the existing non-tow power folding mirrors so they don't freak out.

I tested my cargo lamps tonight and discovered that they will only illuminate while the truck is in Park. So if I wired the mirror LEDs into that circuit as it stands, they would not illuminate when in Reverse. This suggests it is a programming issue?

I'm on my phone and can't check what you drive, do you have a 14' 1500 or 15' 2500?

The 14's were programmed to only activate the cargos when in park and pressing the switch. Check earlier in the thread. I posted a link to a thread that shows how to run a diode so that the cargos will also activate with the reverse. But the reverse won't activate with the cargos. I did the mod when I found the thread and it works great. Helps add a bit more light in reverse and the cargo lights and the bed lights now also come on when I unlock the truck at night.

I have the diode mod in place for the cargo/rev lights and it works great, so should we be able to find this cargo wire and tap for the mirror LED to give us mirror LED on in reverse and mirror LED on with cargo light. According to the schematic it is white/violet I think. I am not sure of how they ran the cargo light wiring and where the easiest place to tap it will be, possibly in the bundle under the driver door jamb?

How does one get the wiring diagrams for the truck?
