That is what I have been waiting to test out. I have done the diode mod on the cargo lights. It works great. I received my mirrors Friday but one was broken by Fedex. Now I have to wait for the replacement to arrive and see how it works. Thanks superchargedSS for taking care of this.

Im in the same boat....mine showed up today and the passenger side was broken (the cover that goes over the pivot/motor in the mirror has a chunk missing). I was not too impressed with GM's packing skills.......

Has anyone actually hooked the small white LED's up to the reverse circuit? If so, do you gain much illumination by having them come on while in reverse?

Do the LED's in the mirror actually provide enhanced illumination while backing up, or is it just for show?

They aren't designed to be used for backing up. It's to add illumination when the cargo lamps are put on.

Do they help add much light? Also where do they focus? Toward the ground or straight back or what?

Supercharged, did you get my PM? Just making sure it went through......

Also, I know ive already asked this question a few times, but nobody ever answered. Did anybody get pictures of the wiring they did? Plug looks like it is a pain in the ass to work with......also any tips on getting the door panels off? Planning on attempting to install at least the drivers side tomorrow...

My driver side is like that. Seem like expensive the mirrors are they would pack them better.

Got mine installed today.....real easy and straight forward. Once you figure out how to pull the panel off, it takes like 15 minutes per side. I spliced mine together so the amber light blinks, and the backup lights should function as puddle lights....

As far as the splices, I just cut the orange wire on the mirror plug about 1 1/2" up from the block. The short part of wire coming out of the block I spliced to the orange wire in slot two. The longer part of the orange wire (that runs to the mirror), I spliced with the blue/red wire in slot 13. Pretty easy and straight forward. The pictures I took didnt really show much, but I can have the door panel off in like 5 minutes if I need to get some.

BTW, those LED lights are SUPER BRIGHT. I wired mine up to work as the puddle lights and am thinking of undoing them......passenger side didnt work anyways, just the drivers side. May look into wiring them to the cargo lamps like they were intended......they will blind you.

They look awesome.

Can you post the steps for removing the door panels?

I can take some pictures later on this evening when I get home from work......i just followed the instructions earlier in this thread for installing AMP steps. There are 6 bolts that have to be removed (7mm socket)......two on the bottom that are exposed, one in the front of the wood panel that pops off, one behind the door handle, and two vertically in the pocket at the top (there are covers over those two that have to be popped off). Then just grab the panel at the front and pull and you will feel it pop all the way around the bottom. Once you have it pulled out all the way around, you can work the top trim off (the piece that surrounds the window and covers where the mirrors bolt up) off. Once that is off, just grab the whole panel and slide it up out of the window trim and its off. I just left mine hanging while I did everything. The passenger side I didnt have to pull it up and off the window trim, I could work around it. One tip when reintsalling.....when putting the window trim in, start at the mirror end and work your way back around the window. It can be a pain in the ass to get it back in. The last part you should put back in is the back corner where it meets the door panel.
