Rust Check, yes or no?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I live in Canada so we have a lot of salt on the road and other chemicals to get rid of all the damn snow we get here, so I was wondering, rust check, yes or no? it will save your vehicle but ive heard its a bloody mess on your paint as well and dirt sticking to everything, so I wanted opinions, thanks.

Never heard of 'rust check' ... what is it ?

its something they spray the undercarriage of your vehicle with to help protect against rust and corrosion because of all the salt that gets put on the roads and highways in the winter time to melt snow and ice

I do it every year . It will make your truck last a lot longer if you get it done . What is good about Rust Check is that it is thin enough to get into the seams and folds in the panels , plus it creeps (which is a good thing)

My trucks underside looks better than some of the new ones and its a 2009 and been through 5 Southern Ont winters .

As a body man this is one of the products out there that really does work . Crown is another that is good to

Krown is a rust protection that is sprayed under and around different parts of the truck. If your going to get a spray, save some money and go to Canadiantire and get them to use the rust protection spray they use. It's a lot cheaper $49.99 for the basic and depending on the amount of driving you do in the rain, you can get a year or longer out of it. There is also a electric thingy you can put under your hood and it sends a little electric current through your car, truck etc. I have heard mostly good things from this. Hope this helps guys

I'm in Grimsby, Ontario and use Krown oil spray every year before winter. I never keep my trucks more than ten years and have never seen a rust spot on any of them. A ten year old truck with no rust can still fetch a good trade in value.

I'd do it, in fact I'm doing it in the next few weeks. I've used Krown for many years on my cars and I've never had rust issues… I've even had it stop rust that's already started. In my area they are heavy on the salt, I've seen two year old cars with a good amount of rust on them…

Rustproofing is a 'must have' if you drive in 'winter conditions', that are prevalent in Canada and northern areas of the US, and you want your vehicle to have some degree of longevity !!

If you keep a vehicle for more than two years, it's probably a good investment that will add $$$ to the resale value of your vehicle, or improve it's value come 'trade-in time.

I have used Krown for all my vehicles, for several years now, but any of the rust treatment processes is better than none at all !!

While were on the topic - don't waste your money on any of those electrical devices that are supposed to defeat rust - they just don't work as well as a sprayed on rust preventative application.

The only drawback to some spray applications is the fact that on some vehicles they have to drill 1/4'' holes in the vehicle to access the inner cavities of the sheet metal. The access holes are then plugged with a plastic seal.

Drilling access holes in a brand new vehicle, may upset you, but it 's a very necessary step in protecting most vehicles from the ravages of rust!
