Torn between lowering and lifting....

Recommended Posts

I have had several trucks and always have had lifted trucks lately. This 14' being my dd I don't think I wanna go like I use to. My 13 had 7.5" lift and 35's.

One truck I miss dearly was my Silverado SS. Sporty truck but was still awd for the boat ramps.

Which direction to go is the question. Level with 33's or just lower and debadge it as it sits.

My truck 14.

5.3L

3.08 gears

Muffler mod, rear block is already gone, 20" wheels and High country bumpers.

Ok, so you were torn between lowering and lifting. After all this what was the end result? I am curious......

You won't get a whole lot of love for lowered trucks on this website...

Try performancetrucks dot net

or rgvtruckperformance dot net

Both are all about RGV trucks... you'll love it!

(BTW, Love your truck!!!) :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Lowering would be a lot cheaper and looks just as clean when done right. To all those saying lowered trucks are dumb or pointless think of a few things before you speak on his truck. I love lifted trucks just as much as love lowered trucks, point being I love trucks period. Why? They are badass regardless of what is done to them. Nobody needs a 6, 7, 8" or even higher lift kit on a truck. It is completely pointless. Ground clearance? yeah right you don't get much more than a simple leveling kit would give you. Anything above a 2.5" is unnecessary and overkill but it still done often, and I myself would still do it because it looks awesome!

Lowered trucks are just as awesome, the only reason I wouldn't lower mine is for the times I actually take it out to the river etc. I don't condone beating up trucks, make them do work but no need to abuse them. But I would hate to drop my truck, buy expensive wheels and have something scrape or dent when I take it off the pavement. If you don't plan on ever taking off the road then lower the thing. It'll look bad (the good kind of bad lol), and you won't waste as much gas. Head turner either way. Since you've had nothing but lifted trucks I say drop it for now, buy some nice wheels if that's your taste, and see how you like it. Ride it that way for a while, remember nothing is permanent. I've had stock, lowered, and leveled trucks so a lifted one is calling my name. But either way do what makes you happy man!

If you're an 18 yr old highschool kid lower it. Other than that I never understood lowering a truck, espeically a 40G plus truck.

I just lowered mine 14 Chevy Silverardo. I'm not a fan of big lifted trucks but that's just me. Do they look cool of course, just not my style. It's your truck so do what you want to it! I recieved a few negative comments on my truck but who cars. I've lowered just about every car/truck I've owned. I love the looks but that's just my opinion. To each their own! For reference here's a few pics of my rig lol. I have since removed the nurf bars and getting ready to remove all of the badges. Good luck with what ever direction you choose. If you have any questions shoot me a PM.

I for one am a little surprised you'd ask this question. If you really don't know rather to lift or lower, try flipping a coin, just saying its a matter of personal preference and style so go with what you like. the opinions of others including myself, should not drive your decision.

I think he's torn because he likes both... and I can relate to the exact question. I've had both with my last two being lowered. Reasons I lowered my 4 wheel drive are; I want the independence that 4WD affords me because I fish by myself 90% of the time and I don't need a boat ramp or inclement weather to make my day off more interesting than I plan it being, it came from the factory with street tires on it, I like the aggressive stance and added benefits of a lowered vehicle, better front end geometry for hard launches whether at the track or shutting up those "other" trucks on the way to work, it came from the factory with street tires on it, it's a 50k+ truck so I'm not going to abuse it by taking it off road unless I have to (which I will and have), I have a 2 year old daughter and I'm blessed with short stilts so it makes it easier putting her in and getting her out of the truck for this time period in her life, it came from the factory with street tires on it, and I don't like for MY truck to look like 75% of other trucks on the road, and it came from the factory with street tires on it. Oh and I'm paying for it.

I plan on lifting it at some point, but until these practically brand new STREET tires are worn out it'll sit aesthetically correct on the street tires it has. And it effectively still pulls my boat every single weekend, hauls more than just ass in the bed of the truck almost monthly it seems and looks great putting in work as well as getting me to and from work myself. A good friend of mine has always lifted his... it's not so much as had a bag of mulch in the bed of it, just as most of the people on here with leveled/lifted trucks more than likely. It looks cool though.

I agree.... I also like lifted and lowered. My last truck was a '13 Silverado 4x4 lowered. Why? Because I like lowered trucks. This one is a '14 4x4 lifted (technically front leveled). Why? Because I like lifted trucks.

Simple. Whatever you like.
