I dont understand how different trucks on here have different limiters. Mine hits 98 and she falls flat on her face. Frickin gets there fast though.

Possibly different tires or driveline components.

Mine tops out at 98 so I also don't understand the different speeds of the limiter. Someone mentioned axle ratio. Wouldn't lower gears (higher #) lower the limit? Since the engine is at higher RPMs. I have 3.08 so my 5.3 would be at lower RPMs at 98 than someone with 3.42s and 3.73s. It has to just be in the computer. So maybe it depends on the trim level? Maybe higher trim = higher limiter maybe? Mine's an LT so maybe the LTZ and High Country in Chevy have higher limits? I don't know. As said before, I really have no reason to go over 85 (even passing on the interstate, maybe 90 tops for a quick pass). The highest interstate speed around here is 70. Hell maybe that has something to do with the different limits, depending on where you live maybe.

Very true mike... Didn't think about that. I'm running the SLT 6.2 Crewcab 2wd with the 3.42's. What do you guys have? Maybe we can compare. Oh, and I have the stock gmc 20's.

6.2 NHT pkg 98mph......and it pisses me off every time I get in the truck. Not that I drive faster than that very often. I don't like the idiots at GM telling me how fast I can go.

^^ - What he said ^^ - My truck has the higher 3:23 gears and I have had it up over 110 - never did keep trying to see what top speed was? My truck is a stock 5.3L V8 ecotec? I raced a buddies F150 and he shut down at just under 100 and I keep on going! had no idea it had a limiter??

GM trucks have shut off around 100 for about twenty years, if not longer. They have to do it otherwise some fool will drive faster than the tires or driveshaft is rated for and after gets himself killed, GM would be facing a lawsuit from the family. EVERY truck sold today has a limiter somewhere between like 95-115 MPH. So getting worked up about it is stupid.

Okay, so I tested it out today, and mine does stop at 179/ 112. Didn't shut off or anything just didn't Rev any higher, once it dropped back down to 177 then it picked back up to 179.

For a truck that cost 55,000 and has 420hp/460tq, GM should put a driveshaft worth a crap in the truck. I will get worked up over what I damn well please and I don't need you to tell me how I should feel or whether it's stupid or not, that's for me to decide...understand!

Well..ya see...my foot got tired and, well, you know how it is. Hard to text and focus on speed regulation at the same time.

I hope you had the texting option button engaged for this,GM likes to call it a lane departure option but in all reality it is a texting option.
