Wow, took a peek at my exhaust and dang thats alot going on down their

Recommended Posts

I have read and researched over the past week and now I have to make a decision. First world problems here lol. Anyway, I was just blown away by the factory exhaust. Really, 3 cats!! So I am planning on getting a single in dual out tmrw. I just can't see spending 1300 on a cat back when I could use it for wheels or lift. But the Borla and corsa do sound sick!! Just to pricey for me. Kinda leaves me with magnaflow or flowmaster. I was leaning towards a super 10 since I hear its the less restrictive of Tue flowmasters. But is a 40 series really more restrictive than the exhaust muffler , resonator and back cat I'm removing. Engine is a 5.3

I just removed the muffler sounds good, I left everything else. Its cheap so if you don't like no biggie go from there, its about 40$. Some people say its sounds like sh^t but those are the guys that already spent the big bucks and saying why didn't I try that first. Im not afraid to spend the money, I cant see taking off a bunch of stuff then turn around put stuff back on. Its quiet till you nail it, it cruises fairly mellow, just right. You start with three cats one muffler and one reasonator, just pull the muffler.

I like the no muffler idea, I had none on my mustang and it sounded awesome. But I do like the dual 45s or dual tips both behind the passenger rear. Will going no muffler allow me to y out into duals?

Little old Y pipe, the problem is the resonator is pretty far down stream. You pull that you may have to put a glass pack or high flow muffler in place of the old one. Or you could put the resonator in place of the muffler then add the y and dual away, still fairly cheap. I been know in my younger days to y off the cats and that's it. That's depends on your taste. I allways go to a bender, now days your exhaust is already high flow so your not going to gain much HP unless you go headers, than you will need a tune.

I went with the borla and love it. 1 of my buds deleted his and it sounds pretty good but yea it sounds like it has no muffler just loud. another friend installed the super 10 and I love how it sounds. Its a lot throatier then the muffler delete and for 60 bux you cant go wrong. amazing for such a tiny muffler!

third cat really isnt much of anything its just some ceramic filter looking thing....could be knocked out pretty easily. And you might gain 5 hp.

Whatever you do get the AFM tuned out as well.

Blackbear Performance is a popular tuner. Also the Diablo in-tune. Or just use the Range Technologies AFM delete module. You have a couple options.

You'll hate the sound of the exhaust when it kicks into V4 mode tho.

I have a Magnaflow 14 in. single in duel out. V4 sounds like , feels like HELL! But drive in M5 and throw the coals to it and it sounds MEAN. Gotten a lot of looks and thumbs up. Oh, Did I mention I also have turndowns before the rear axle. Turns the entire bed into a resonator. This is also a fix for the "SNAP, CRACKEL, POP" problem. :driving:
