Lights behind grill

Recommended Posts

Work in progress but I ended up tapping into my brights with a t-tap off of the white wire in the lower headlight harness.

Hoping to have it all wired up tonight and ready to go.86fad531bc69ce95c997e9d9d1dac906.jpg

what bulbs are you running, they match the LED's well and seem bright which is what I'm currently trying to find. Also, is this the Pandemic light bar and curious to the set up as a whole with the light switch and all. Thanks!

I'm using the morimoto 6000k hid kit and the morimoto fog lights!(led fog lights) the light bar and switch is from infinite off road. 30" curved bar and the switch is also from them

Looks great! For your headlights did you have to cut into the dust cover at all?

I literally just installed mine last night. Behind the HC grill, it shines just as bright as it would unobstructed

Anyone have a picture of an install behind a High Country grill? Bought a 30" Rigid dual combo bar. Should be here tomorrow. Wondering how much light will be blocked by the horizontal bars of the grill or if there is enough space between that light output won't be significantly affected.

RC's kit is so user friendly... The longest part of the project was wiring, and that's mostly because I'm a little Nazi about wires going every which way. I'm happy with it for sure.

The switch that comes with it is a little bit of a joke. I'm currently looking for one that'll handle the 15 amps the light bar cranks out.

Does anyone have any tips, info, pictures of wiring? Such as power for the switch inside, Also where is the easiest place to go through the firewall with the least amount of damage.

I used a remote controlled wiring harness and paired it with my Homelink. If I didn't have Homelink, I would have just used the fob that came with the harness. No need to compromise the firewall, no switches to mount and I can turn on the light from outside the truck. It just doesn't get any better than that!

There's a small rubber plug under the carpet on the driver's side. I went through there. No drilling through the firewall is necessary for wiring.

However, I mounted my relay for the light on the firewall near the back of the engine block and ran my wires in a uniform fashion along the top side of the firewall so they'd blend in. If you didn't know what to look for, you wouldn't see it.

Where did you get the remote harness. That sounds awesome.

Here's where I bought mine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHJ8ZTC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm sure you can find them pretty easily elsewhere. Just search the internet, This harness is from China (isn't everything nowadays) but is decent quality and works great.

Has anyone mounted a bar behind the 2016 Z71 grill and been satisfied with the output? I saw the one post that someone did was was not happy with how much light was blocked, and I think they changed the grill. I like the front end with the Z71 grill, and so swapping is not in the cards for me.

I was thinking maybe two single row LED bars as opposed to one dual stack? If anyone has done this and can give me their feedback I would appreciate it. If one or two 30" single LED bars are not ideal, I may just use up to 3 small LED bars - one spot in front, with one flood on either side - sort of like in this pic http://www.outdoorhub.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2015/12/outdoorhub-chevrolet-announces-new-2016-silverado-special-ops-edition-2015-12-16_21-24-06-880x587.jpg

Nice. If you want to know how to do the brackets let me know. I can tell you the step by step and how I did it. Super easy.

I have a 2016 z71 and wanted to see a led bar behind the grill, and yours looks awesome. What bar is that, and perhaps more importantly, what are the dimensions? You said 30" double stack, but how tall is it?
