Lights behind grill

Recommended Posts

I plan on mounting the switch in place of one of the cigerette 12v socket. I seen this done by another member and I like this switch because you can still close the cover. Looks really clean and factory.

Please post a picture of this when you are done.

Ok. I got everything installed and it turned out GREAT. It is exactly what I was going for. I was a little worried about the double row not centering as well as I wanted and the 32" still requiring a little trimming on the plastic which I did not want to do. I do not like to cut or trim anything. Here are just a few of the little things I was worried about or problems I ran into and fixed. First of all I ordered a OPT7 32" dual light bar with switch kit. I really wanted the kit because I wanted to use one of the accessory power outlets instead of drilling and cutting for a rocker switch. I like rocker switches on RZRs and ATVs but like to keep a Custom/factor look on a new truck. i should have went winless but for some stupid reason I wanted a switch but did not want it to look like I added it. Second, I wanted a 36" but thanks to the tried and true post of other members I figured out anything past a 32" required trimming the plastic. I used a piece of 2" (I think) flat bar and mounted it on the angle brackets in front of the radiators. I left a little over 1" past each side so the light bar mounting brackets could bolt right on. It worked great and was very clean install. I painted the flat bar with plastic dip and painted with semi gloss black. I did not have to cut or trim anything. there is VERY little room left on each side which is what I wanted. It filled the space perfectly. There is hardly enough room to get a Allan wrench in to adjust the light bar without taking off the grill again but it can be done. I could not find where to get the power inside the fire wall (this is the only part I did not like. It isn't a big deal but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to keeping things right even if you can't see it) so I hid the wire from the battery to under the truck. I drilled a very small hole in the rubber/hard plastic drain hole cover under the front passenger seat for the wire and used a grommet to seal it. It looks professional but I would have preferred the fire wall if I did not have to drill it. The last thing is getting the accessory power outlet out (cigerette lighter) For some reason mine was a HUGE PAIN IN THE BUTT. From other post I have read this was not a problem at all. IMO and after researching and looking at many options I think this is the best option out there and I would do it again this way. I wish the pictures would do it more justice.

I will try and resize the picture but putting the switch where the 12v accessory plug was turned out really good.
