275-65-20 tires with 2" Level

Recommended Posts

Having a 2" level put on the truck tomorrow and looking at getting rid of the crappy factory 4 ply tires and replacing with 275-65-20 Cooper Discoverer AT3's or some Hancook Dynapro's. Just talked to the guy at the dealership and he said that they have had issues with rubbing on the 275-65-20's. For those of you that have done a 2" level, what size have you had the best luck with for tires that won't result in some rubbing on the felt or the arms?

Second, and don't flame me, anyone running the DynaPro or AT3's? Would like to hear some feedback before I drop $1200 on a set of rubber.

After reading through all 36 pages on the Leveling thread, it looks like I'm asking for trouble with the 275-65-20's. Looking at a 275-60-20 or 295-55-20 instead. Would need to be an 8 or 10 ply tire due to the gravel we drive on. Any recommendations for tires in these sizes? Needs to work on highway, gravel, and ice and mud (somtimes all in the same day). Gotta love North Dakota weather conditions!

I run 275-65-20 Duratracs with a 2" level. I rubbed a bit on the felt fender liners. Zip-tied the inboard corners of the liners out of the way a bit and haven't rubbed since.

I ended up putting 275/60/20 Cooper ATs on my 2015 Sierra 1500. I currently do not have a leveling kit and do not have any rubbing issues. I was going to go with a 2" RC leveling kit and 275/65/20s, but saw some pictures where it rubbed on the GMCs, but not on the Silverados, which made no sense? Maybe it was the terrain difference between the two? Anyway, I didn't want to risk having to shave back wheel wells for an extra inch of height. I may still put on a 2" leveling kit, but it is NOT necessary for the 60s.

I have 275/60/20 on mine with 2" level. No problems. I just went with the Michelin LTX Defenders. They are much better than the SRA but they are not aggressive looking if that is what you are going for.

Late to the discussion but i had 275/60r20 Duratracs added to mine. And there was some rubbing on the mudflaps (not the liners). Even worse in reverse, I added a 2" level and they still wouls clip the flaps slightly in reverse. I trimmed that corner off and absolutely nothing now.
