Foglights On With High Beams

Recommended Posts

cool.. everyone moved it over to the #22 slot!

Anyone running high powered lights on the fog circuit will want to stick with pin 18 to 10, so they can control them and shut them off when not appropriate.

Everyone-

Spurshot is correct, if you are running extra lights up front for additional lighting you will need to have them going to the High Beam signal. I will be eventually adding a 20 LED light in the slot above the license plate for Deer Season purposes, and at that point I will only run that through a relay and turning on when only the high beams are on.

However, if you are like me and just want the fogs on no matter what, and especially when the parking lights are on run it through the #22 slot. I confirmed it this morning on the drive to work that as soon as I fired the truck up the fogs were on, and I switched to High and Low beam several times while driving in. No issues at all. Like I said before best 0.50 cent modification I have ever done.

Yeah, a lot of guys are using the fogs like a DRL supplement and the #22 jumper is a good deal for that. What bulbs are you running for your Fogs?

Some guys are putting Rigid type LED lights in the fog positions or triggering some other high powered lights mounted elsewhere off the fog circuit. For these guys, the #18 jumper retains the fog light push button control function except when high beams are on the fogs come on no matter whether the fog button was pushed.

I'm planning to install a light bar so I like having them tied to the high beams. I plan to use the fog circuit to signal the relay for the light bar and also install a switch to interrupt that so I can prevent the light bar from coming on if I want.

So then I'll have:

Lows (With or without fogs)

Highs + Fogs (With or without light bar)

That sounds like a great setup. I was just being lazy and didn't want to run wires thru the firewall and install a switch.

I plan to run a switch for aux backup lights and the cargo light remote switch wires at the same time. After that I hope to never fight with the e-brake boot again on this truck. :)

Works great. Good thing it came with 2 as they brake at the diode very easy. I didn't use pliers but the brown plastic plug in has a very very small square cut out at each pin that the diode wire fit in nicely. Very small and hard to work with. It helps to try and move the other pin wires out the way and gently wiggle/twist when inserting wire....but still hard.

Thanks for the post. I will post some pics after I have all Putco bulbs (headlight and led fogs).

Thank you fondupot. Got my diodes today and 10 minutes later, this modification was done. I ran 1 diode from #10 fog lamps to #22 parking lamps. Now my fog lights turn on automatically anytime the parking lights are on and stay on even with high beams. Love it. Easiest mod I've done so far. Great instructions by posts from above. Those pictures made it very easy.

Thanks again.
