Foglights On With High Beams

Recommended Posts

Is there a similar Diode modification that can turn the LED bed lights on with the interior dome lights? I hate having to go to the cab and turn on my bed lights when my hands are full.

I am hoping that when i unlock the doors with my keyless fob, it will turn on the dome and bed lights at the same time.

Thanks,

Tobin

I'm feeling pretty dumb RN.

'15 CC with factory fogs, got the 1n4004 diodes, I see BR/WH in the right place, but where theres supposed to be a BR/VT all I see is solid brown, maybe the wires twisted, but jumping anyway does nothing.

I did see what I THOUGHT was a BR/VT but jumping to this makes the horn blow with the brights on. that was fun.

Darkfox1, the horn part was funny.

Anyhow, look at some of the pics and schematics and count how many rows over and down to get to where you need to be. I was in the same situation, but once I counted it out, it was much easier to figure out which hole to push the diode in to, since like you, yes, it's hard to figure out some of the wire colors due to the twist.

I will try again today and take pics if I need to.

After the horn thing and a failure to "remember' correctly with the brown wire I went so far as to print out spurlocks diagram with the labeled pins and tried it and still got nothing.

I thought maybe it was backward, but the foglight switch didn't toggle the brights, and I couldn't tell where anyting else was going on.

The diodes seem kind of small, maybe I have the wrong one? it says 1n4004 on the package and the diode itself though.

I did a diode swap on my last truck to rig up reverse lights va the cargo lamp and it went very well, not sure why I'm having difficulty with this one.

I have Anzo aftermarket headlights on my 2014 Sierra and during the day the low beams are running at anytime i'm in gear. My headlights have a lighted U-Bar and have a line of LED's on the top and bottom of the headlight. But those only come on when the actual night time lights kick in. Does anyone know what pins I could jump to make these accent LED's come on during the day. Basically I would need the lights to run as if they do during the night.

I was a thinking the same thing, did the diode mod last night. Gonna study this for a bit but noticed one row of led's has a 2 stage brightness. Gonna try and find lead from ballast to light to trace and see if I can get both upper and lower to fire the same on my GMC.

For what it's worth I unplugged and stripped back alittle of the black wire wrap for easier access to get at the wires.

My lower ones come on as drl and brighter but at night they both come on at lower rate.

Gotta find ballast and see if is controlled or switched.

Gonna wait till a little warmer as have to trace daytime running lights first.

Suppose to frigg*n snow this weekend.

Aint that how it always works, weather always likes to get into the way of things. But ya Ive tried to jump a couple pins on the BCM with diodes but I can't figure out which ones will make my low beams be on all the time so my LED rows will be on all the time. With my after market headlights the LED rows don't act as DRL for some reason. They only come on when the low beams kick in at dark.

It sounds like the LED strip in your aftermarket light assembly has internal wiring that would need to be changed to do what you want.

All this discussion about keeping fogs on with high beams must involve people in States where there is no yearly safety inspection or States with lax lighting laws. Failure of fog lights to automatically turn off with high beams is an instant flunk in WV, VA and likely a number of other States and even the existence of aftermarket, non OEM, lighting an immediate flunk in others.....had to rip out the aftermarket fogs moving from NY to pass NJ inspection. And automatic means no manual turn off switch, pulling fuses or bulbs either to pass inspection. If the vehicle has a fog light, it has to automatically switch on and off as per State law when switching from low beams to high beams and back.
