What did you do to your "other" car (aka musclecar) today

I never said they were lame, just common. There was a 1st gen locally that had finished the swap to a LQ and needed the bodywork finished and they guy was only asking 5 or 6k. It was for sale for quite a while. Not even commanding a premium unless its a completely finished car.

Leno has even been commenting on it recently.

Common may be the ones with a simple engine swap, and then they call it good. A close family friend is building this car right now. This isn't so common....

His down payment of $75,000 was just to START the 18 month process.

Went for a drive couldn't take it anymore had to test out the scoop. Definitely can tell a difference. Snappier throttle response. The reported tested gains I would say are true. Back under the cover

Gee wiz, what are stock factory 69 fire birds going for these days. I know of two rag tops in the family. One I know is original, same owner since 74 restored once, needs it again one is pretty bad.

Let's just say he has already paid more than the car will be worth anywhere but am auction. Sad thing about the birds. He is paying for a product, not an investment. I have seen some pretty sweet modified first gen birds, they just can't touch the value of a similar Camaro, talking ten's of thousands difference.

It has become a combination. Of sad and hilarious what people think old muscle cars are worth. They watch these TV auctions and think that is the market. Truth is, its not even CLOSE. The only way a car is get that is at one of those auctions.

I watched a MAGAZINE cover car, a heavily modded 69 Z/28, that had an owner start asking 90k and eventually drop into the 50s. Over 150k invested, one of the coolest 1st gen camaro's on the planet, but it wasn't original, it wasn't modernized, it was one specific guys dream. And if you can't find someone with the same dream.....

The key to holding a 1st Gen firebird's value is keeping it what it is, a Pontiac. Then, you just have to find a Poncho fan....

Even though the birds are more rare, they are less sought after.

^^^^^ That sums it up about perfectly! This guy has owned the Firebird for almost 40 years, and he's not going to ever sell. This was his dream to resto-mod this car with a full independent suspension and crazy awesome motor. It will probably be a garage queen, with the occasional local car show thrown in there. The company doing the restoration wanted to bring the car to the SEMA show, and he said "Hell no, I don't want a bunch of people touching my car!"

He is in his 50's and has no kids. He has a garage full of muscle cars instead! As long as I get to ride in some of his cars, he's ok in my book!

Only made one year, and not many at that.....

yeah not to many out there, saw one on ebay about 12 years ago that was perfect, it was a 4spd convertible. but i was in high school and definitely didn't have the money for it. Eventually when I have the cash I'm hoping there is one around somewhere.

I like how he opens the door right when a wave is coming in.

I like the girl with the green shirt on the right even better. Either super tiny thongs or a birthday suit on one lol.
