What did you do to your "other" car (aka musclecar) today

With all the work crap I figure it's not a bad idea to stick it on CL. I want to keep it, so I'll be driving it a lot and maybe I'll change my mind. I was so close to ordering the new interior before the workcrap started, I was even going to one day but I wasn't thinking about time zones and they were closed when I called with a question. It's not a sure thing I will sell it (it is after all nearly exactly what I was looking for in a project car), I seriously doubt it would be easy to find someone that knows enough to want it enough, I bought it with the intention to keep it.

It would be different if you still had the firebird, you have a nice driver that your not afraid to work on that you don't have a lot invested in. The Z28 will stay pretty much the same as far as value, it took me 40 years to figure that out. You can always sell it and come out pretty much the same.

Actually the 4th gens have already been going up slightly. Not much at all, but they bottomed out several years ago after the 5th became common sights, then they inched up. I really am not sure why, it doesn't fit the standard model for used cars, even other Camaro's. Book values are rock bottom but at least around here they are selling considerably higher. I remember a final edition that booked for 12,500, the guy had it on Craigslist for 13,500, and it was for sale for just a few days. My Z28 is a different story, it's only options are AC and the "Monsoon" stereo, so the only people that will want it are weekend racers or someone else that wants a project.

That's really my problem when selling, I'm drawn to the oddball cars that's aren't mainstream. The firebird, the Z28, even my C4 that had the British-ish roadster colors(Dark green with tan top). On the other hand, My red 69 Camaro got too much attention.

Vacuumed and washed it. Had three emails about it, two for trades(Zero turn mower, and another for a motorcycle), and now what appears to be a gear head(his name on his email looked like a screen name, and yup, it's a screen name for a car guy at multiple websites that lives in OK.)

Still not even sure if I want to sell it, but the reasons still make sense, even if I don't need to. But, It's particular enough I'll be surprised if it sells fast. A low option(but lightweight) high mile Z28 that's mostly suspension ready for a road course can't be at the top of too many people's wish list. But, if this guy is looking for a performance project, that's why I bought it.

Was offered 4500. They wanted exactly one of these once they read about it, even excited about the manual windows. I countered $4750 with the like new door panels (I haven't installed yet, from a leather interior. They didn't answer. Said there is a firehawk they want to look at, if it's the ad I found the car looks filthy so I'm not really worried. They commented several times on how clean everything was, inside and out, even if it looks aged.

Wondering if I should take it or just pull the ad and keep it. We did agree

the local market pricing for these cars is confusing. They seemed shocked at how stock the drivetrain was, said it's very rare to find a 4th that is nearly untouched.

And one twin was nearly crying after learning what "selling a car" means(we wouldn't have it anymore, he LOVES it). The other one said "that's fine, we can get a NNEEWW ONE!"

Yup, got a couple of little car guys.

I told the prospective buyer I could actually finish my build plan immediately if I wanted, just doubting if I should spent a lot of money if I am thinking about a career change. Think that explains I'm not worried about selling it or coming off the price too much. If they take the counter offer, I'm not actually making any more than their offer, just saving me from selling the door panels on ebay. I STILL haven't sold my brand new Z71 steering wheel for a GMT900. I have it priced under dealer prices.

Sold it, looking like Tuesday.

Kinda scared to touch it until then.....remember the firebird. The day I was going to trade it, ugh, that still hurts. I was soooo close to getting that clean, bone stock E39 M5.

My son wouldn't let me sell mine he would have a breakdown. I would t want to add not subtract to what I have

Ryan

Shhhhh, I'm already thinking I should have kept it and continued the project. There just wasn't going to be any hope of much return beyond this point. 15k added and I would have had an amazing, show stopping 4 gen, but wouldn't have been worth that much (I know, "says the guy who bought two new cars 6 months apart, regarding vehicle finishing returns")

Maybe I'm just a little gun shy with the last few experiences. The "buying a used car is buying someone else's problems" saying come to life.

Interestingly, one of the test drivers today (two guys came together) thought he felt a engine vibration. I told him I haven't noticed anything unusual, he agreed the engine ran and sounded great(better than expected for the miles), so we agreed it's likely the poly mounts. I'm not sure if it was a tactic or he is right(never driven another LS1 4th).

Oh, and ha, the other boy, a few weeks ago, asks "what happened to the red car?"

He was staring at the Mazda so my wife and I were pretty confused. Then he pointed toward the Z28. I asked if he meant the loud car, the firebird, and he said yes. I told him I sold it a long time ago. He said "awwwwww". He was the one that always cried for the first 10 minutes that it was too loud(and then would fall asleep ironically).
