I actually have some, not all, of the original GM individual replacements if any get damaged.

They sure do. Dad has a 71 Camaro. He's working on fixing it up.

My first Camaro was a 71 SS350, with a wide ratio Muncie. It was Forest Green (dark)with a green cloth interior and wood trim around the gauges, shifter and on the doors as I recall. That one had hooker headers, a Holley 650 and Cragar SS rims

I need to get my parents to restore their black '79 Z28! First thing they bought after they got married. The only problem is getting mom and dad to agree on the same build. She wants a restoration, and he wants a resto-mod. I'm on both sides. Fast and new is great, but nothing beats classic original styling!

A resto mod that looks original. Not too hard or expensive, just need the right parts painted the right color", they make classic style wheels in 18 inch sizes, etc. A modern suspension just painted all black, a carb LS motor painted bright orange with a classic air cleaner, etc. Edited by SnakeEyes

I know, but mom doesn't want an LS or a 6-speed. She wants factory just like the day she bought it. I say that as I helped complete renovate their entire main floor of their house which included taking down walls and moving the kitchen......at HER request! I think with enough time she will see that a resto-mod is exactly what she's looking for. Classic looks, modern reliability!

Yeah that's one area modern stuff hands-down beats the old reliable 350. Sealing surfaces & materials have improved tenfold, at least.

I put a new Quick Fuel 750 Sniper carb on the Coronet this week, but slowly gathering parts to plumb it up. Went from a single feed Carter to this dual feed, so I need a new fuel set up.

Tried a few pre-made set ups but something on each set up didn't work. So, I'm just building my own. Waiting for a tee to come in and I can finish it up...

Well I went to look at two BMWs. An 88 325is 5 speed. Once I got there I found out it was an auto car that was converted. He said it "runs, drives and brakes well". So I drove it. It was, Except for the driveshaft vibration and the LSD whine. Engine trans and clutch were solid. But front bumper didn't align, and the oil cooler leaked from the related damage. Interior wasn't really presentable. I could personally fix all the problems, but that would cause me too much greif with my issues. I wasn't looking at the past with rose tinted glasses, that car still drove fairly well even with the issues and plain tires.

 

 

So I went to look at that seemingly nice E46 M3 convertible I linked to a few weeks back. I had seen it in person once but it was dirty. I knew I would find something hidden because it was too cheap. I think it still hadn't been washed, and after 15 minutes I know why. The front bumper paint matches, but if you look close you can see what looks like brush strokes. He has it backed up to a high curb but upon close inspection the exhaust doesn't lign up. The back bumper has the same issue the old BMW I looked at had(offset bumper). Except, I found what looked like a staple that had been touch up painted in the side, and some paint raised/bubbles(in a plastic bumper?). For a car that needs 1-2k in maintenance yearly in perfect condition, I walked away after the guy said "I'll be right back", proceeded to walk by me 4 times over 15 minutes, but still hadn't even unlocked the car!

Just reading about the C4 LT4s(only in 96s with the manual). Never knew they were (mostly) underrated. Saw some shop claim they dyno'd 126 of them and 10% were around 330hp crank, 10% around 390 crank, and the rest my varied wildly in between, with most 350 or better.

 

 

It seems no one noticed until 96s were beating C5s at the tracks.

 

 

They are bringing a little more than other C4s, but wonder if they will ever hit unobtainium status like the original split window or 427/435.

 

Of course I got curious and looked them up locally

A $7500 white one with 150k miles grey interior

 

A 13k red one with 97k miles and red interior (looks great, I have seen it before actually)

 

A 18k "Collector Edition" model with Z51 and 57k miles and red interior(supposedly rare to see a CE with red)
