1st Gear going bad?

Recommended Posts

Okay guys, I think my 1st gear is going out or something. It started last Friday & it's only happened 4 times since then. If I'm at a redlight or in very slow traffic. Once I get hit the gas pedal, my RPMs go up and that's it. I shift it into Park then it back into Drive, everything works as it should.

The last time it happened when I was leaving Advance Auto today, (had to pick up some air fresheners & K&N cleaner for my intake), but anyways started to pull out and boom, nothing happened. I was like you gotta be kidding me. But then once again I shifted into Park and then Drive. Everything seemed to work. Only does it every now and then.

So, what do you guys think it is? I'm just afraid my transmission is going out. But, my truck is an '07 Silverado 5.3 170K with 4.56 gears. Any advice or anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

Maybe it can check the linkage adjustment if there is any or are vehicles wire/electronically controlled now days?

Sychronizer?

These have been shift by wire for years and controlled by a module , there is a shift cable and a switch on the shifter shaft which tells the gear selected by the driver to the computer ,

You can't do anything , as said , take it in

Wish i could be more help but there is nothing more we can do here. You'll have to have the codes pulled at gm 90$. It may be something simple but we do not know. Good luck

STINSAN3 ,,, this is the best i can do. read all of these PDF's and try to diagnose it yourself. IF you had gm scan the truck with no codes it might be electrical. perhaps a bad computer... be sure to read all of these and report back after you try the steps.
