Cat Back Exhaust Installation

Recommended Posts

I realize that this topic has been discussed exhaustively on this Forum. What I

gather is that the factory exhaust must be chopped in half to clear the rear axle

for removal. I have read that you have to lift the truck by the frame to attempt

removing the factory exhaust in one piece. I have a Magnaflow cat-back system

showing up tomorrow and I would like to hear from anyone who knows of a 2014

factory system (6.2 specifically if that matters) being removed in one piece. Tips

on doing it would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

It was very simple. Easier than I had anticipated in fact. Just take the clamp off and remove the stock system from the hangers. I lowered the front after un bolting and took it out forward turning the entire system 1/4 turn to get the rear part over the axle and it was out. The whole swap out took just under an hour and I took my time and cleaned things I saw that had accumulated dirt.

Thanks bud, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I'm going with a 4" Magnaflow stainless cat-back with 22" muffler

and resonator with single 5" tip exiting in the factory location. I'm hoping for a 'pre-catalytic converter era' sound.

(what used to be considered normal, years ago, as I remember)

I think I'll resist the urge to broomstick cat #3 - I guess I could go back in there later if I have to.
