Ever had this happen?

Scared the crap right outa me when it did it too. The top half of it went 2 feet straight up. Right by my head. Loud as he!!.

I have never even heard of a vise breaking. All I was doing was pressing a u-joint.

Can't go on without a HotWheels smasher mounted on the bench. So the new one is in the pics too.

Lets see if these work.

That kind of stuff happens all the time if you try to Smash a GM Truck Hotwheels!!!  :D

I can't believe that would even suggest such a thing!

Smash a Chevy.

Bite your tongue sir. I smash rice only.

You do know that I'm just messing around!!!  (don't you?)

And you do know that if you were to put a GM Truck in that vise, that something catastrophic like that will happen!!!  :seeya:

Yup. Just thought that I would throw it back at you.

cowboy02, it wasn't a GM. It was a driveshaft off of a F### 24 foot bobtail.

Not something I normally work on, but now I have a friend for life that happens to own a very large truck with a liftgate....and thats always a good thing.

You can weld cast iron.  I do it on a regular bases it just takes some finess and special cast rods.  Considering I've been certified since I was 14 I can weld pretty decent not as good as the old man though.  Anyways yeah you can weld cast.  I've broke two vises but they didn't shoot up they rather popped and fell.

Ive had that happen once on me too.  Just barely missed my foot.  :flag:   I think that we were using to to press in a new set of ball joints? However I could be mistaken as that was many years ago.  I have since found it easier, (and safer) to do pressing like that with the vise on the floor!
