the first person to get an Edelbrock SC on a 6.2!

Recommended Posts

The original OP is going to be under a lot of pressure to supply some numbers at sea level after his supercharger is installed. It could be a great summer event with a lot of side bets if that's allowed.

Only if the house gets a cut. Got to pay the Vig.

Yes higher compression, but the new 6.2 only gained 17 hp over the last generagtion

Yes, when tuned to make 43 lb-ft more torque at a lower RPM. It's a simple intake swap away from a ~50 HP difference. When you remove the intake to bolt on a blower, that restriction is gone.

You intake swap to thr car intake, you "may" get an extra 50 bhp, but with the shorter runners peak torque will be lost. I have seen the Edelbrock 6.2 unit in person. Gorgeous piece. It imitates the style on the LS9. The blower is in the valley and intske on top of it. Thisnalloes for longer runners to make more torque.

I've done quite a bit of comparing the two manifolds, and here's what I expect. Peak torque will remain about the same. The Vette manifold peaks about the same amount of torque, it just carries that peak up another 500 RPM or so to give tons of HP up top.

The significant losses are going to be below 3000 RPM. So it's certainly not a mod for "towing power" but in this thread people are talking about racing and it'll certainly help for that.

Anyway, my point was the truck manifold is a significant restriction to top end power which is the only reason the new 6.2 is so close to the old in HP. Once you remove it to bolt on a blower that restriction is gone and results should mirror those of the Corvette with the same blower.

Odd, in the past the trick manifolds were the poor man's FAST LSXrt. The Trailblazer SS ans 6.2 trucks hax good manifolds

One time a older skyline sandbagged te snot out of me, I went up to him and told him I could hear his BOV, I knew he was lettin out of it. So we raced again and just SMOKED me lololol some cars trucks just can't compete with unless ur running 800+hp. Just too heavy

ok so its official, i just dropped off my truck at edelbrock today and the wait begins.

if the 2 guys are still reading this thread what were bickering back and forth. if you wouldn't mind doing your part to go back and edit the bickering out. i would like to clean up this thread a little so it can stay on subject about the installation and review of the SC when i get it back.

thanks!

i should have a baseline dyno by beginning of next week. they said it only takes them a couple of days to do the install, but a couple weeks to get all the tuning done. total supposed to be a minimum of 2.5 weeks and more likely 3-4 weeks.

but i suspect they will have a pretty close to final tune early on and from that tweak if necessary after doing some road testing.

they were pretty confident they would see 100+ hp and tq at the wheels with 5.5 lbs of boost.

i sort of feel like they wouldn't tell me that if they weren't pretty confident about it. if anything they seem to be on the more conservative side with anything they have said to me so far.

they had their 5.3l equipped 2014 and blown truck in their shop along with the stingray from SEMA and another customers dodge charger they just finished installing a kit on as well.

i get the impression they have installed enough of these units to be able to predict with a greater degree of accuracy than anyone here to be honest.

also got a tour of their facility. it was amazing to say the least. i saw everything they sell from carbs, manifolds, heads, water pumps literally crates and crates full of parts from fresh out of the sand cast to partially machined, to fully complete assemblies and parts.

they have pallets and pallets of magnuson rotors preassembled ready to go into the Edelbrock e force supercharger housings.

looking at the rotors up close i was amazed how precise they mesh together and sit right against the back plate. you couldn't even slip a sheet of thin paper between the rotor and the mounting plate they sit on. talk about precise! and they spin effortlessly with no rubbing whatsoever.

they actually pre-fit each assembly and test before final assembly and then test spin for 15 minutes with an electric motor before they are shipped out. (they showed me the test jig)

i can say a great deal of pride goes into their products and everyone there seems dedicated to sending out a quality product.

anyways, thats all i have to report for now.. my flight home was delayed, so we are just sitting here waiting for more information. bored as hell as you might imagine.

i am as excited to see the finished product as you guys are.. but be rest assured, ill get you the info as soon as i get it, so stay tuned..

No. There's lots of info there. Maybe when you get the SC on and have results/review to report you should start a new thread for that to be discussed.
