What gas do you use in you 2014 gmc sierra?

Hey man I don't think I ever saw an update on this. What were your thoughts on 89 octane vs 87?

Been using 89 octane almost exclusively since then by the recommendation of Blackbear Performance. Justin at BBP said these DI motors should use 89 even when stock to reduce knock. My truck has since been tuned by BBP and I run 89 all the time now. Haven't really noticed any hp or mpg gains since most of my mileage is around town its hard to notice a difference.

Cool yeah I was just reading today on BB's website about the 89 recommendation and that's when I came back to the forum to search fuel related threads. I'm sitting at 1/8th full tank now so I need to fill up on my way home from work and I was thinking of switching from Shell 87 to Shell 89 to see if there is any difference in performance.

You probably won't notice much. Justin just says the 87 octane cant burn as efficient and results in more ping on the 2007+ trucks, and the 2014+ DI motors. They have such high compression the extra octane in 89 is the right amount. For me its usually less than 5 bucks a fill up to get 87 vs 89. So its an easy choice to run the mid grade.

Yeah it's going to be about a $5 difference for me. But I have a short commute and I've been eating lunch at the office and only driving to and from work so I've only had to fill up once every 2 weeks now on average. So in the big scheme of things, it's not a huge premium to pay if the truck will like it better.

Basically same gig as me. Most days I drive 22 miles round trip. 11 miles each way with 11 stop signs, or stop lights....its impossible to get "good" mileage in my commute. Lol. I still get between 16-17 tho.

Yep that's like me. It's about 10.5 miles to work so 21 round trip, most of which is on the interstate so I still average about 17.5 mpgs per tank so you aren't far off with your average.
