What gas do you use in you 2014 gmc sierra?

I tried regular then premium in my 5.3. I didn't notice much difference, maybe a little better mileage with premium but not enough to offset the price. Then after a lot of research I tried E-85. It was significantly cheaper, but got 2 to less mpg. After a couple of tanks the truck really came alive. Snappier and more power with E-85. Availability can be a problem but it's worth it to me for the power increase.

87 0ctane. Don't see any reason to run anything else?

Here is my numbers, and I haven't been on any long trips yet. 90% driving back and forth to work. 2.5 miles of gravel road @ 15 MPH tops (2 stop signs & turns), then 3 miles @ 55 MPH (stop sign and turn), then 1.5 miles at 45 ,35, 25 MPH through small town, then 19 miles @ 55 MPH on a rural 2 lane highway (one stop light at the half way point), then 1.5 miles of 45, 35, 25 MPH of city driving (2 stop signs and turns). Total of 27.5 miles one way, 55 miles round trip.

This was last September when it was new. 2 days in a row back and forth to work. The Trip B is the highway after reaching 55 MPH, town, and back roads home, Trip A was round trip from start up to shut down in my garage, or driveway.

Some more rural highway numbers from last fall, early winter.

During the cold winter months on winter blend gas I was getting less mileage with the remote starts, cell phone starts, and warm ups, but still maintained a 18- 19 MPG average. Some tanks were down to 17 MPG when I was playing or working in the snow.

I really haven't experienced a long trips, or summertime mileage with it yet, but one day two weeks ago the stars must have been aligned or something and I got 28.2 on the rural highway miles coming home from work.

26.8 MPG for the highway, small town, and back roads home.

Here is the 25 mile, 50 mile, and 400 mile averages from a couple weeks back. I have 9000 miles on my truck now, and the summer, warmer, better gas mileage weather is just starting here. I fully expect these numbers to go up 1-2 MPG over the summer.

I have a trip planned for this September from Michigan to Wyoming to visit my son and do a little antelope hunting, if I am lucky enough to draw a tag. Planning on seeing Mt Rushmore, the Badlands, Yellowstone, and several other places on this trip as well. I am planning on documenting the mileage, gallons of gas, and MPG for this trip.

Love my Double Cab Z71 4x4 5.3 with 3.42 gear ratio.

Those are some crazy mpg numbers. Awesome. I'm jealous. Only had my truck for two weeks now, and I am not even close to those numbers. Nice job

It's a Double Cab GMC Thing! I think?

The numbers don't always jive at the pumps when I fill up the tank. They have been slightly better, and as much as 1/2 MPG worse for the overall. That is not always an exact science either, because some pumps shut off earlier than others.

I run 87.. Average 16 MPG over 11,000 KM. My absolute best, likely coasting down a hill, was 22 MPG. No idea how you guys get such good mileage.

My 6 month On Star lifetime MPG For September 14th, 2013 through March 13th, 2014 was 19 MPG for most of the winter, and was actually up to 21 at one time. I think it was at 20 MPG when it stopped in March. This is in Michigan with October to December hunting season traveling back roads to my hunting spots, and through one of the longest, coldest, snowiest winters we have had in 30-40 years.

I think the biggest secret to better gas mileage is due in part to a few things. If you mod your exhaust, you just have to hear and let everyone else hear it at every take off or pass. Not having the 6.2 is another way to get better gas mileage, because you don't have to race everybody at every light.

I was getting 23.8 and 24.0 MPG in 4x4 HIGH on the rural highway driving home from work on snow covered/slippery roads @ 55 MPH this past winter. As long as the truck is warmed up and the tranny fluid is up to normal operating temp, I am golden for gas mileage. My truck will stay in V4 mode in 4x4 HIGH at highway speed as long as it's warmed up. Some days it would be down to like 22 MPG Highway if it was really bad.

Haha! Yeah, I am baffled by some of these mileage figures. I'm extremely easy on the gas pedal and I'm averaging 17.0 combined city/highway (one MPG better than my '13 LT was doing). Best I've ever done for a 50 mile stretch ALL highway was 20.0 (with a tailwind)

Unless they are doing all highway cruising at 55mph??? I don't even know if I could do those numbers doing 55!

To stay on topic... 5.3L running 87 octane.
