Loss of power

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone it's been awhile since I posted anything but I have a issue I'm not sure what to think of.. I brought my truck in for the first service and a recall I got a notice about and after I got the truck back I had a few mile drive to the highway and everything seemed to be fine and when I got to the on ramp and gave it some gas it fell on its face and felt like it flat lined once it hit 3rd gear. I would give it more gas and it would stay the same the all the sudden the rpm's jumped up and it finally went. Guess it's more of a hesitation. I'm taking it back to the dealer this week to have it looked at again. Sorry for my horrible explanation I'm no mechanic but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I had this same thing happen to me and the service dept. gave me a copy of PIP4112N updated as of Jan 17, 2014. According to them the hesitation is a normal characteristic of the truck. I am curious to find out what they tell you when you bring your truck in.

YEAH. The dealer told me mine was operating as designed. I have posted about the "deer in the headlights" pause when moderate acceleration is needed. Its almost like the thing downshifts from fourth gear to first after a pause. Could be a little dangerous . I am going to ask the dealer about PIP4112N. See were not all crazy.

I Had Mine Recall Do The Reprogramming On The Truck. Mine Is Working Fine. Not Having Problems Before I Did My Tune. The Tune Made A Big Difference. Have Seen Other Guys On This Forum Complaining About The Same Thing Your Having Problems with

Well as suspected they said its normal.. Which is crap. I love this truck but this new hesitation mainly in 3rd gear is eating away at me and I no longer enjoy driving it. Going to a different dealer on Monday or Tuesday and I'll take the service guy for a ride this time and let you all know what's up. I do have a CAI installed but it's been in for over 2k miles I may throw the stock on back on and see if it makes a difference. It seems like the truck is getting chocked out.

did you clean your air filter recently??? whether or not you have inspect your MAF and make sure that there is no debris in there if so go to your local part store and get maf cleaner and clean it. DO NOT touch the MAF or you will cost yourself 300-500 dollars for a new one. similar problem on my buddies 01 rustang a few years back and It was cleaner from his k&n filter was on the maf.

Truck only has 4000 miles it would already need cleaned? How do I clean it if I can't touch it

What brand of cold air intake did you install? I think what whitestallion is trying to say is that if you installed an intake that uses an oiled air filter some of that oil could have gotten onto the mass air flow sensor therefore causing your problem.

It's possible that could be the problem, but since other people are having a similar thing happen, and GM has a whole paper explaining how its "normal" it probably just has to do with their retarded tuning.

It's a Airaid system. It's been on for over 2500 miles.

How do I check if it's bad?

Yeah. If it's something simple like cleaning a sensor then I'm all about it. I'm debating on putting the stock system back on and seeing if it gets better
