2013 Sierra 1500 lift suggestions please

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm looking to add some altitude to my 2013 All Terrain SLE. I plan on going for 20" on 33's or 35's with a slight negative offset, preferably 33's. I'd like to go up somewhere between 5"-7.5". I'm not looking for a budget lift, I'm looking for the best lift that improves ride qaulity and I don't want rearend sag when towing or a load in the back. There seems to be quite a few options ranging from under $1k up to $4k+ with varying results as far as I can tell. This is my first truck and, therefore, first lift and I want to do this right. I plan on complimenting a lift with a few mods to improve power/efficiency. So any and all suggestions, recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for taking to time to read and post.

Sorry, I meant to add this to the post. Living north of the border, I'll also be looking for recommendations on best 33 on 20" setup that works good/great in the snow. But I'd like to have the option after the suspension upgrade to use my stock 18's with snow tires if necessary.

Not sure if you can "crank down" the lift on the new GMT900s like you could with the old torsion bar on the GMT800s.

FWIW I had an excellent Rough Country 4-6" lift on my 2001 2500HD Ran 315/65/18's - Great lift, Great ride, even tire wear, no problems.

Bad experience with a Cognito UCA lift on my 05 DMax, Replaced it with a good SkyJacker 3" lift. Ran 305/60/18s. I say good because I experienced some slight outer tire wear, but sold the truck before I really could find out what the issue was. Rode great though no front end shake at highway speeds. Wheeled it hard offroad and it held up pretty well.

Currently looking at a 3 - 3.5" for my '12 in the hopes of running a 305/65/18 tire again. Also kicking around a 4.10 gear swap for performance/towing considerations.

Haha... Airbags. I was leaning towards the 4" BDS lift with 33" duratracs. BDS is a perfect example of why I'm confused though. They have a 6" for $1.9k and a 6" w/coil overs for $3.5k. I'd rather go 4". But I'd take the 6" w/coil overs if it's a better ride. Looks like the airbags would solve the sag problem.

I'm currently in the process of spec' ing out a lift for my 12 1500.

RC 3.5 lift with Upper Control arms and rear N20 shocks - $480 shipped.

Already have a 2.5" Bilstein level.

4.11 Gear ratio change $520 for gears and install kit

$500 labor to install both.

$1200 for BF Goodrich AT KO 305/65/18 (33.7" diameter)

Also have the Firestone RideRites on for rear loads and towing. Highly recommend.
