Post your 2014+ wheel/tire set-up

Recommended Posts

Question for you guys. Being in the market for wheels and tires I've set my sights on the fuel coupler at 20x9 weighing 40 lbs and the ridge grapplers in 295/55 at 62 lbs. Coming to 102 lbs a combo. Currently I'm running the stock 18 inch 5 star split spoke and SRA's. The SRA weighs 40 lbs not sure on the rim...but say it does weigh 40 as well the stock come in at a guess of 80 lbs each.

So my questions are 1. Being 20 lbs roughly heavier is my ride gonna take a big hit as well as going from a SRA to an E range tire? Also going from an 18 to a 20 and going to an E range and being heavier should I expect the nice fairly comfortable ride to turn to the feel of a dumptruck.

I did the math on mine and only gained about 5ish a corner I believe but that weight is further out too which hurts. Def lil slower but not as much as I expected. I went 20 to 17 and think it rides better even with the higher load range.

Between the weight, tread and load range you will notice a decrease in mileage, responsiveness to throttle and braking, and ride quality. Wasn't too bad for me going from stock 22s but you'll notice more of a difference from stock 18s

There are some tire mfgs (like Nitto and Toyo) that make a lighter XL tire that is not quite an LT tire, but the sizes are limited. I can tell you from experience that an LT tire is truer to vertical size than the XL as the lack of plies allows the XL to sag more.

The people I know that have gone from 17 or 18 to 20" rims have all complained about the harsher ride. Like your wife wearing those high-heel CFM pumps, there is a price for being trendy!

Just upgraded to some fuel beasts 20x9 on 305/50/20 nitto trail graps. Running a RC 2" level.

Could you post more shots please, I'm looking at getting 20x12 -44 offset Fuel Beast D564 and running 33's wanted to grasp better idea if i should stick to a less wider wheel, the offset for concave is whats stealing me though. I have a 2.5" RC Level/Lift

Here you go, I feel like mine actually have a decent amount of concave for a 20x9. Absolutely love the rims, you're making a good choice. Let me know if you want any more pics of them, tried to get some that showed the concave.

No problemo, post up some pics when you get the new setup on. The only thing I might change is go 305/55 or 295/55 on the next set of tires. Interested to see what they look like on the 33s.

Not sure, I bought them used, but it looks like they only come in +1, +20, and +35. I only checked the 20x9 part on the stamp. I'll see if I can get a look at them later and find the offset on there.

Still deciding on tires, looking for commuters and offroad, was told about Elderado Mud Claw MT from townfaire but not looking to break the bank on a set of tires quite honestly. I'd love nittos but theyre a bit pricey personally

Don't have much experience with MTs, but I've loved my nitto trail graps so far, no road noise really, they look good, and the ride is really good for being a somewhat lower profile tire. I found 2 used on Facebook marketplace with 80% tread real cheap and then forked over the money for 2 new tires so it didn't end up being crazy expensive. Worth a shot to see if anyone in your area has a set of lightly used tires.

Don't get full blown MTs. Get a hybrid like a ridge grappler or open country RT

Silveradoh, just the pics ive been looking for. So you're running a 20x 9....tires look to be Terra grappler g2s from the pics. How have you liked the g2 so far. I'm gonna be 99 % pavement so curious how they feel in cornering, ride quality on nice and crappy roads. They def do have a nice look to them
