4.3L Ecotec3 exhaust mod video!!!

Recommended Posts

Dang it now I know the next mod I'll be doing ! How is the drone in v4?

FYI, there will be drone whether it be V6 or V4. It's not obnoxious drone, but it's there mostly in the 1900-2200 rpm range which I am fine with. So just be aware just in case you decide to do the mod, you can't say I didn't tell you :)

From how your explaining it, seems like your talking about the resonator. The third CAT is located pretty much in the center of the exhaust system, you can't miss it.

The BFG's are LT285/55R20's with a "D" load range. They are 8 ply not 10 ply. I did have some LT275/65R20 10 ply or "E" load range BFG's on my truck before the ones I currently have and it did affect the ride of my truck as well as the MPG. Luckily my local discount tire let me exchange them for the 285's without any hassle.

Have to admit, was waiting for a very thin sound, but what you did turned out great!

That third CAT, is that the one that has the stainless flex looking wrap? Do not have a 2014, mine is a 2013 from the gmt900 series & was told that was to absorb vibrations/flex through the exhaust. Which made sense as there were no wires or sensors going to it. But have been curious if the pipe is hollow or what is inside.

Regardless, you knocked it out of the park, particularly for such a small investment.

Will this hinder your state inspection? Also what state are you in?

I am in Santa Fe, NM and we do not have required emissions testing. Although even if we did, I would probably be ok being that the "third cat" I removed is only there to make all GM trucks meet California state emission standards.

This is what the "third cat" looks like...

Here's my '14 with the 4.3 V-6. I figured I'd post this as a comparison to the other vid.

I used stock size pipe, cut out the adaptive valve and resonator and left the third cat but gutted it. The only time it resonates is if you really floor it like the last two revs.

I'm glad I saw this post. I was worried about messing with the exhaust on a 6 cylinder.

I had the third cat removed along with the resonator and exhaust "flappy valve". I did leave the muffler and I must say it sounds so much better. Hopefully the link will work to view it on YouTube!!!

did you notice any fuel improvements?
