2014 Sierra 5.3 vs. Ecoboost

Recommended Posts

I'll admit I'm biased....but Shawn is a genius. The diablo tune is "claimed" to not change any of the CVN's....if that's true I'll be all over it. I'm not worried about the flash counter...but the CVN change is pretty well known to most dealerships.

I cannot wait to see what the 6.2L does with his tunes.

No reason to be worried... there isn't one. There is a CVN change recorder though.

Also, like posted before. Run him on E85, you will put it to him if you both get a good start. Make sure you run your gas as low as possible before filling so that your alcohol content is as high as possible. The second tank of it runs even better ;)

I drove an Ecoboost that just came off the truck last year before I bought my Sierra. The thing wasn't even unwrapped yet . The salesman had me fire it up and drive it to the front of the dealership so he could grab a plate for it. I started forward and the damned thing nearly stalled out, major hiccup, lag or whatever. Took it out on the road, and it seemed like a nice truck, but couldn't get that sputter out of my head. I came home that day and on the news there was a piece where people were suing Ford for that same reason.

I drove the Ram that day as well, and that is all I have to say about that.

There was a you tube video of a 5.3 taking it to a EcoBoost posted on here a week or so ago. The Ford was in the side view mirror all the way and fading.

Not knocking Ford, still have my last one in the barn. 225K+ miles on it, and literally runs as strong as the day I brought it home. It could be brought out of retirement if need be, at any time. Just not a fan of the EcoBoost is all, even if it could beat me in a drag race, but not the one I drove.

I test drove it. Completely not what I expected. Unless your foot is on the go pedal and boost builds it's no fun. No throttle response at all. I can't stand vehicles with no response. So I decided to head back to the GM's and I did some research on the 6.2L. I took a chance without driving one and ordered up since there were none to be found of the model I wanted. Damn glad I did! She is a blast to drive!

I am having the exact opposite reaction. Maybe something is wrong with my 6.2

man if you have the 6.2 as long as you dont blow the tires off coming out of the hole (even still) you will destroy the EB.

I need some tips, I have given up trying to beat anyone off the line. I smash the pedal to the ground on my 2014 6.2 Sierra and my rear lights up. I think a Prius can beat me off the line. I have not tried "Auto" or 4WD.

That's how I did it in my Eco put her in 4x4 and go.

You can't just floor it you need to ease into the throttle.

You will be happy with the out come. I had an Eco crew fx4 ran 13.99 in quarter tuned with livernoise. I have a 6.2ecotec3 now and am worried.

Wow, do you live in the mountains? I ran a 13.50 with a tune only with 2500 DA. Then ran a 13.17 with the extras with my ecoboost.

This is why I got rid of mine. Watch the Tach and Spedo, WOT! IMO they aren't safe to be on the road. I was actually trying to blow it up but it wouldn't. I did that for 5 1/2 hrs on and off that day. It just shook and sputtered then finally pulled it out. Ford said we are sorry but we don't have a fix, our engineers are working on it. I told them I was posting the video's on youtube and getting rid of it at the next dealership. I did and haven't looked back. Dealership was sharp, they found something different every time then when I was getting close to be able to Lemon the thing they wouldn't give me an appointment anymore. The new ones are still having the same issues if you look on the Ford forum.

Was this guys username Kelly something? If so he had horrible problems with his Eco.

He said it was Livernois tuned...if it was early in the tune developments they weren't all that strong compared to the tunes that have surfaced now so maybe that's another reason. The 13+ Eco also benefited pretty nicely from just a tune and better CAC.

MPT, Livernois, LET, Unleashed, and SSI----all of them are pulling 13.7s dang near stock now. Heck guys with 35's are pulling 14.1's. (and those are the 'slow' times).

Wakesetter....Try to launch in 4x4, if "we" launched in 2wd at around 2K RPMS the tires were gone. I would expect that the 6.2 would be the same. The 5.3L would probably be the same, too and both worse with a tune since the TM is pulled out.

That was with a 2012 livernoise 93v2 tune no other performance stuff.

try "rolling" into the throttle instead of just smashing the pedal to the floor right off the line. when you take off give it like half throttle and when you get moving give it more and more gas until the pedal is through the floor. this should help keep the tires from spinning.
