Good idea on replacing the door panel! Are you currently missing any of the hardware or clips? I think I'm missing at least one screw on each side. lol

Nope, everything is there. The only issue with mine was that someone poked a hole in it at some point. The new one only cost me $12 after my exchange credit though so I'm happy lol!

I swapped over everything from the old door panel to the new one today. I also added some sound deadener to the new panel. Cleaned up the new panel with some Adam's detailer, and added a new GM lock knob. Looks a lot better.

Decided to add sound deadener to the drivers side door panel today. It's also been making a lot of noises like plastic rubbing on more plastic. To fix it I added some electrical tape all around the pocket that fits in the bottom of the panel. I also added felt between the panel and the window switches where it was rubbing, and making noise. All fixed now, and no noise at all.

How much of a difference did you notice by adding the sound deadener? Did you add any to the door itself?

I've noticed a small difference. I added it to the door itself in the extended cab doors, but not the front doors. I'm not expecting a huge difference until I add it to the floor, and up the back of the cab. I think all that together will make a big difference. Edited by Daryl Z71

I just went through this entire thread and I am amazed. I have always had a soft spot for the 04-06 Silverado body style. My first GM was a 2005 Silverado ECSB so it is really cool to see someone build it back up. I had always dreamed of keeping that truck and building a hot rod motor for it but alas plans changed. Great looking truck and look forward to what you do in the future.

Thanks. It's going to take a lot of work and money, but someday I'll have this thing back in great shape.

I had to use an air hammer on my torsion bars for like 2 minutes each side just to get them freed from the keys.

Haha! I had to beat on the drivers side bar with a long bar and sledge for I shit you not 10 minutes straight. My arms are numb lol!

Mad respect for you with this truck, all that rust would have made me set it on fire by now. Looking good :)

I can thank the winter season for the rust. I'll get rid of it all at some point lol!
