It looks like your crossmember mounting brackets are original. Does it not clunk when you go over bumps? It appears they're super worn out.

Not really, not like my Dad's 99 does. Are you talking about the brackets that mount the cross member to the inside of the frame rails?

Yes. Yours looked trashed. That may not be the only issue but it could be one of them. Mine only made it just past 100k. They have a rubber bushing that wears out.

What other issues could I have? Looks like I'll be replacing a few other things besides just keys. Edited by Daryl Z71

Bushings are trashed. Drill out the rivets and the replacements come with bolts. Not bent, they tend to angle forward due to the pressure of the torsion bars. But you'll be paying about $40 a piece for the mounts

Well that sounds better than everything being bent. Rock Auto has Dorman for $23.79 a piece, but I'm not sure how good they'll be.

That's what I went with on my 02 just I got them locally cause I already had everything torn down and couldn't afford to have it down for a couple days so they got me on pricing lol

I'll go ahead and send the tool out cause I don't even have a torsion bar truck anymore so you can hold on to it for however long you need to [emoji106]

The bushings can be replaced without removing the torsion bars or crossmember if you want. The beam just has to be jacked up a ways.

Thanks, that sounds like a plan to me. Edited by Daryl Z71

Something I forgot to say earlier about the catch can install. When I added one on my 2011 truck I had a hissing noise that I couldn't get rid of, but on this truck it makes no noise what so ever.

I did install it a little differently too. Instead of tapping into the plastic hose that runs from the valve cover to the intake I completely eliminated it. I ran one piece of hose from the top of the can all the way to the nipple on the valve cover and i installed a traditional hose clamp there. On top of the intake I installed the newer style self tightening hose clamp. I'm thinking that installing it this way has helped eliminate the noise. I'm just going to keep and eye on the hose to make sure it doesn't collapse.

My can makes a hissing noise, from what I can collect it's the suction force collapsing the hose. I even upgraded to transmission hose but it still makes it, not bad enough to drive me insane though lol. Some guys on the k2 trucks have upgraded to hydraulic hose but it's not worth my time or money to do that, it's not that damn bad haha
