Daryl Z71's 2006 Silverado Z71 Re-build

I agree now that I drive a GMT 800 platform the interior is pretty good. The only thing I find lacking is I loved the size of the console in my 07 compared to the console in the tahoe. Way smaller in the tahoe. I like the GMT 900 seats better too, but my wife says the tahoe seats are more comfortable, lol. Maybe its just what I was used to with the seats.

I find it fascinating how many people are going back to the 800s. Both on the forums and in person. I've met a few people that have offered to trade with me or just out right buy my truck. Of course I'm not going to be doing that but it's nice to know the 800s are held in such high regard.

Yeah it basically came down to is it worth an extra 10 grand in most cases to be in a gmt 900 tahoe or live without a few things and spend way less on a gmt800 tahoe with similar mileage.

Haha! I'm trying! I love the layout of the interior of the 800 series. I'm trying to figure out why I ever got rid of my first one.

My gpa likes the seats in his 2007 classic... he prefers to climb up into the 3/4 ton than ride in his Caddy. I like the layout of my interior a lot. I think my next interior project will be fixing my headliner (coming off by the door), maybe installing some deadening and putting switches in the overhead console.

My headliner is coming down in the same place. I plan on installing sound deadener on the roof whenever I take the headliner out to have it redone. I'm also planning on installing a GPS unit into the overhead console.

Here's a picture of a members truck over on GM Fullsize with a tuner screen installed in the overhead storage area.

I thought about putting my Insight up there. But I found the dash pod and went with that. It's much easier to see out of the corner of my eye on the dash (especially since it's set to show 8 parameters). With a gps screen being bigger it would probably go better up top...

Not worried about being able to hit my switches, I'll put some of these on :jester:

One thing I thought of, is will the GPS be able to get signal there?

That's an interesting thought that never crossed my mind. I would think it would have trouble. Not sure if there's a way I could fix that issue or not.
