That canister after the muffler is a resonator. Keeps the drone down

I've actually never seen a stock exhaust system on these trucks haha. That's why I always figured the 3rd cat was beyond the muffler or atleast beyond where it actually is.

at my apartment, the parking lot is too small to fit everyone, so I made myself a parking spot(:9252FFB8-561B-494F-9887-31994B0B07D0_zps

What model is that grill where you can put the GMC Logo on it? or was that a signature thing you did mike?

Actually it wasn't me who did it. But its not hard to do at all. I bought the grille from Stykers_Inc. When he had it, he cut the tabs off the emblem from his OEM grille and drilled a small hole in the 2 posts that come off the back of the emblem and put those posts through the grille, also used some anti-slip material, the holes in the posts are used to put a small piece of a wire hanger through to keep the posts from going back though the grille, the antislip material sits between the grille and hanger bit to keep it from being able to slide out.

Ive got some pics somewhere on my phone. Ill see if I can find them and upload them so you can see what it looks like. Its a super simple set up that saves you from having to spend like $150+ on a billet emblem

hey guys, so I am tired of the black plastic pieces on the truck, NO IM NOT COLORMATCHING THEM, now that I said that, lol, I gotta ask y'all's opinions on what to do with them (this includes the grille shell/surround), I can't decide whether to bedline all the plastics, or gloss black paint them, or even paint them a Satin black. Cant decide on which way to go! Whichever way I go its gonna cost me money and time as Imma pull everything and do it all myself, even the bedliner. If I bedline then Ill most likely Raptor line everything, if I paint then its a choice on gloss or satin. Not sure which way to go so I want to hear some opinions!

PS. I also am considering color matching the chrome in the headlights when I open them up to add some Diode Dynamics Switchback boards into the DRLs. Should I color match them or paint black? Will be gloss or satin black just like the plastic pieces if I decide to paint them. If I paint headlights black then I am gonna color match the black plastic piece that is already there so that there is some offset in the headlights and not just a black hole.

PSS. For anyone in LA or anyone who is willing to ship stuff here, I now offer painting services! Professional look without the professional cost. I also do headlights if anyone needs theirs done!

I say paint them to match the black of the rims or somewhat close to that. U gonna paint the plastic fender protector things and fog light surrounds as well or leave them?

anything plastic or currently black (other than the grille insert and emblems which are already done)

so what would get painted black is gonna be the plastic bed caps, fender "flares", grille shell/surround, plastic on mirrors, and XM antenna.

I know all of these things are black already and with the proper care they will stay a deep black color for a long time, but I plan to keep this truck a very long time and don't want to watch the plastics fade. Ive been seeing a lot of trucks lately that have old faded plastic and I want to paint mine before it gets to that point. Another bedliner option would be to use Rustoleum bedliner in a spray can. Its not the most incredible bedliner but its not like its going on pieces that need to have super strength against getting knicked. I plan to change my front and possibly rear bumper so Im not concerned with any plastic pieces on either. Gonna switch to MOVE bumpers and color match front and rear to the truck.

Also with the bedcaps Im thinking of getting kinda fancy and painting all of the indented areas (like the lines and the GMC in the center of the caps) to match the truck, while painting the rest of the cap black

only problem I see with painting the bedcaps is that it could potentially scratch off (dunno how much you put stuff in the back of your truck from the sides or set stuff on the bed rails..)

Id color match the xm antenna and paint everything else to match the black of the rims.

thought of color matching the antenna but kinda like it black. Gives some offset on the roof. I may change my mind when I go to do all the painting but for now I want it to stay black.

As far as the bed goes, the inside of the bed gets used often, but Im usually sliding something in or out. My bedcover gets opened rarely compared to the tailgate. So its not often that something gets slid over the bedcaps. The tailgate cap maybe but I can always just be a hair more careful or put a clear bra over it. Not too worried about anything getting scratched, if I was, id just use the rustoleum liner since its cheap and easy to spot fix

oh forgot to say I'd also do the black plastic piece that sits at the base of the windshield wipers. On my truck that dang thing is already starting to fade noticeably!!!

During

PS, there is some trimming required if you are running aftermarket rims and 1.5" spacers. You'll only need to trim off around 1/4" of the studs but that part doesn't contain any threads. So you aren't removing any usefulness from the OEM studs

And after!

If you don't have one, get a breaker bar friends! It's $10 at Harbor freight and well worth the money. Only thing I could use that didn't break on me haha. I had a ratchet break, solid steel rod break (it's a weird older kind of socket thing. 2 steel rods form a T and the handle is the top of the T, and 2 sockets actually broke on me. Need to go get some new sockets. May get a 1/2" driver breaker bar and some stronger sockets, hopefully they won't break haha.

But also, finally decided on how Imma paint my headlights once I get my switchback boards from Diode Dynamics!

What you guys think?
