Nice! So does the entire dash piece around the gauges just pull off? I've been wanting to change the light color in my gauges.

yes the front piece just pops off but I didn't try popping off the actual gauges. Didn't want to possibley mess anything up with them.

Do you have a before and after pic?

They look really nice.

I do not believe I have a before picture but I will check

Yesterday decided to debadge the Z71 4x4 decals from the sides of the truck, then today decided to paint it and add it to the grille

1AD9F689-95AC-4CB0-A760-3CBC9868C43D_zps

Also decided to pull the GMC logo off the rear, painted the chrome semi-gloss black and letters to match the truck, now about put back on. Also painted the second Z71 4x4 to match the rear emblem and putting it on the rear as well

Pics to come later

Great looking truck. Are you still enjoying the Rough Country 6"? Ive been looking at ordering a lift within the next couple of weeks. Was there was trimming involved to fit the 35s? Do you wish you would have gone with the 7" instead. Thanks in advance.

Yes I am still enjoying it. It doesn't exactly ride like a Cadillac but it's not bad IMO and that's my only complaint. But it's still a necessary evil to get a lifted truck on a budget. (Be able to do it for less than $3K for lift plus install and rims and tires

I had to have some trimming done cause I got a 20x9 rim at 0 offset. Had I gotten a more conservative offset like 20x9 @+14 offset, I probably wouldn't have had any trimming.

I think the kit is perfect for someone looking to have a semi stuffed tire but a good height. My dad is a huge fan of the height and he hates lifted trucks, so that says a lot IMO

Sometimes I wish I had a larger lift but that's only cause there's abunch of diesels around here that run 6" lifts and 37s and they are like 3" taller. Just one of those things when you see a taller truck and wish you went taller, but 98% of the time, I'm happy with where I am. Maybe later on I'll upgrade to a 7.5" and try to stuff some 37s or I'll get a 7.5" and a 1.5" BL MAYBE

To give you an idea on the height, it's about the same as a 15+ HD w/ a level kit and 35s

I appreciate the response! I think the height and look is perfect.

Hi, I was trying to find which bulbs you used your for your license plate lights. I couldn't seem to find the link here in your build thread. I'm looking for an LED that's error-free, white, and not so bright as to throw weird shadows on the back of the truck. Do you happen to have a link to the ones you bought?

Thanks

Josh

I just have some cheap POS lights from eBay. No issues so far and I've had them since 3 days after I got it home. These are the ones I got http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201331107137&globalID=EBAY-US I just got a pack I case if there was any color variation from light to light or if one failed, only cause they are so cheap.

Next was the addition of under the good light since GM decided that it was impossible for you to want to see the engine bay at night or in low light areas

(In the second picture, the ONLY light that is on are the 2 light pods I added. They, along with the switch used, came from XKglow.com. They are the small 6 LED pods. Link here: http://www.xkglow.com/6_LED_Ultra_Bright_Motorcycle_Light_Pod_8pc_Pack_p/xk084001-8.htm)

Mike, did these pods come with any wiring. The website is pretty vague.

Thanks.

Thanks.

When I got them, they had 30" leads with the tips being bare, however, now they have changed it to a PNP system like the rest of their products so it has a connector on both sides of the light and 2" leads coming off either side. However, it comes with several extension wires of different sizes.

How long have you been running those bulbs in your fogs? Any burning or melting of the lens or housing?

Not to steal his answer, but no LED should get hot enough to end up burning the housings. LEDs are much cooler than halogens and halogens won't burn the housing so there shouldn't be any issues in that category

Hey Mike,

Your RCX lift came with the anti wrap blocks right? After a year my rear end is still higher than my front and want it leveled so I thought about ordering the blocks from the 6" kit to hopefully get me leveled with the 7" I have. Although my brother would rather me put a leveling kit in the front and run 37s haha

Yes I do have the anti wrap blocks in the rear. My only complaint about the RCX blocks is that with how wide they grab the leafs, there's no room for the leafs to bounce anymore so the rear end is solid over bumps

A narrower block and traction bars would fix that problem!
