Mike, see you have the BAK Roll up tonneau. I really like the idea of a metal rolling tonneau. Do you like it? Is the fit of high quality? Is it pretty water resistant? Thanks

Yes I do, yes it is, and yes water resistant. I love the thing!

Pros:

Metal backing so it's secure

It's funny when ppl ask how you like your vinyl cover and then you lay on it and they are amazed that you didn't fall through because you haven't told them it is metal backed.

It's water proof where the cover is

Still very easy to see out of the rear window when the cover is rolled up

Cons:

It'll let in water on the front bulkhead, very easily fixed though with a trip to the local Home Depot for some weather stripping

Price! (But IMO, the peace of mind that you've bought a strong quality cover really justifies the price. I wouldn't get anything else)

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality cover! I'm 95% sure I'll get this on my next truck as well. The other 5% is if I decide to get an automatic retractable cover

I'd rather pay the $800 or so dollars for one that is secure rather than someone tearing up a vinyl one that I have to pay to replace as well as them run off with my hunting gear (during hunting season) or anything else I may have back there like straps, hitch, etc.

That was part of my justification when I got mine.

Oh and another pro for the cover is that it's extremely easy to open and close with just one hand. So if you are carrying anything then as long as you have one free hand you are good.

Sorry to jack the conversation...

The problem I had with the BAK Roll-X tonneau covers is the security problem. You can easily break in by using a screw driver or pry bar. I verified this on a friends Ford.

I bought a Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite to prevent intruders from getting in the bed.

Not thread jacking just adding to the conversation. Thanks for the info, only thing is I don't like foldable covers. They either take the front part of your bed or you can't see out the back window. I like how small a vinyl cover rolls up, but then there was the security issue. I see the best option for me personally is the BAK Roll-X cover.

This is all if I do get a cover. I'm very undecided on one

I was also torn on a foldable for that reason, but it was easily removable if I needed the whole bed.

I really like the security and ease on opening from front and back of the G4 Elite.

How were you able to break in? I tried on mine and couldn't. Also, js, if you see someone going at a truck with a prybar it's probably gonna raise questions to anyone who sees

I believe there are a few videos of it, and several reviews on YouTube that show it. You can take a screw driver and slip it under the rear left part of the cover and engage the cable by prying down or catching it on the tip and pushing forward.

You can also pry up in the middle and see where the cable is if you didn't already know.

Some people have put cables from the center down to the bottom center bolt of the access panel on the tailgate. It's not a real good fix, just a band-aid that shouldn't need to be done on a $800 cover.

It's still a great cover, and I almost went with it, but preferred the front and rear access of the G4 Elite, its ease of opening, steel rotary latches with locks at both ends. One other thing is that it fits on top of the bed instead of inside, maximizing space when the tonneau is removed or folded.

I agree Mike, but people aren't always watching others cars. I live in an area where people do things blatantly and most people look the other way. I'm always paying attention to the people, cars and activities on our street and surrounding areas, but I'm a rarity around here.

Heading back to where we started

Chrome and WDT. No more trying to go black and white. I've started to see quite a few black and white trucks pop up in the area so I figure I'll step back to the shinier side. Chrome haters gonna hate [emoji106]

Bender's got your back, although he's not quite chrome.... You get the point.

The WDT and chrome is a good combo though.

Wonder if he's got my back on these rims too

These are the rims I will do. It's gonna be really hard for something to turn me off of these
