MThompsonjr115
If they work better than the HIDs I guess I should order them and sell my TRS HID kit. I bought a 35w 5k kit. Are the LEDs you ordered high/low beam? If so how will that work with the projectors as we don't really have a high beam, just the cutoff shield movement. I got the single beam ones. Just high beam power I guess you can say haha. The high/low bulbs aren't avaliable in a 9006 collar anyway. If you get them then I would advise you to message Jon A and get a new set of rear caps from him for your headlights! The OEM caps leave little to no room for the fan to pull air and cool down the bulbs. The cooling fins on the back take up a lot of space. I already have a set of the new caps from Jon A sitting on my desk in my room. Just waiting for the new bulbs to arrive. I noticed that VLED pushed the backorder date back by a week. I really hope that this does not turn out to be just like the License Plate Frames did Here's a picture of the difference between the OEM cap and the caps that Jon A has designed. If you think these LED bulbs are good enough to be on par with the HIDs once you install them, I may just have to order a set. I'm starting to like the idea of LEDs over HIDs. I have access to a 3D printer at work... if I could get the file for the caps I could make them myself, or I can design some up in my free time. What did the caps cost you from Jon A? PM me if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mike1220
Im also waiting for another review on the led headlight before i buy. I will give one as soon as mine arrived and are installed. I'm hoping that they are as good or better than my current HIDs. 1/12/15 EDIT: I just got an email back from VLED customer support. I emailed them yesterday asking about why the backorder date was pushed back from 1/23 to 1/30 and also asked them if this may end up becoming another License Plate Frame situation where they keep pushing the date back for over a month. They said that it will not end up being like the LPF (I am really hoping that they are right because I do not want to have to wait another month to get these lights) and they said that the reason was because there is a new fan cover being added on. Just wanted to give y'all an update incase if anyone else was wondering Edited January 13, 2015 by Mike1220
MikeLadd
I'm curious with changing my factory bulbs to HID's as well and I've looked at the VLED's but lately I've been thinking about sending my headlights to Fast Headlights. Anyone know the difference off hand. LED bulbs, HID's, VLED's after a while it's confusing. I'd like to do it one and done and do it right the first time. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am going to review how the LMZs at 5000K compare a DDMtuning 55W 5000K HIDS bulb at the end of the month when I get my LMZs. I'm hoping the LMZs will be better than the HIDs and hopefully won't have as many issues as HIDs seem to be having in these trucks (DISCLAIMER, before anyone says "it's cause you have a cheap China kit" well, it's not just my DDM kit, a lot of ppl are also having issues with their Morimoto kits too). Mike1220
Did some late night dipping tonight. Will get better pics in the daylight in a few hours. Also planning to possibly pull out what used to be the chrome inserts (I have dipped them black) from the grille and I may try to color match them like I did the emblem surround. I plan to do the opposite on the rear tailgate (possibly). Looking to give it a black surround and color match the actual letters. Still not sure if I want to tackle that or how I will do it. Will likely have to be a multiday process so that the dip can fully dry and then I can tape it off to paint the other parts. With the front emblem I was able to pull the letters out of the chrome surround, there are white tabs on the backs of the letters that can be drilled out, but be careful because if you drill too far you will go through the letter. That's why I used my Dremel and a 'shaving' type of but to just shave down what I needed until I could pull the letters out As yall can tell, I was trying a few different methods and color combos between black and pearl and white and pearl on some of the letters that I debadged off the truck Edited January 17, 2015 by Mike1220

Mike1220
Let's see pics of it on the truck Not completely sure I like it all that much. Doesn't match too well. I have 3-4 coats of pearl over matte white dip but it still seems just a bit more white than the WDT Edited January 17, 2015 by Mike1220

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I agree, it just looks a bit odd. I glossfied it right after the picture, it helped slightly with bringing it a bit closer to WDT but still not there. I am going to go ahead and leave it for now and hopefully tomorrow I can pull the grille off and try doing the chrome inserts. The the very least I need to touch them up as I have noticed that I missed a spot on one of them. I have a feeling I will end up pulling the dip off the emblem and leave it black and chrome
Mike1220
Oh I also made one more step towards making the white LEDs on my tow mirrors work. I still haven't gotten to wire them in but what I did do today was I decided I will wire them to the puddle lights to hopefully avoid having to run a new wire for them. I went ahead and put a diode between the cargo light and the puddle light wire in the BCM plugs under the dash. Now the puddle lights will activate when the truck is unlocked at night or if I turn on the cargo lights via the in-cab switch. This will allow me to avoid having to run a new wire because I will be able to connect the white LEDs on the mirrors to the old puddle light wire on the door harness. I hope this works cause it'll save me a bit of trouble
Mike1220
And then I said, let there be light [emoji41] With how much everyone has said that these are really bright at night. I can't wait to try them out later! PS. I decided to take the dip off the grille emblem. It's just black and chrome again now.
