Might as well share your secret

Yes! Do share, will it work on NBS?

Well I'm probably gonna end up catching some hell from a few people on here because of how I did this but here it is!

I just went ahead and figured out which of the 3 wires running to the amber lights and I cut the wire for the running light. So the turn signals still work just as they should but there's no running light.

I went ahead and cut the wire but added quick disconnects (I just left them disconnected to keep the wire apart. But if ever needed, I can reconnect them in minutes and all will work just fine as originally intended)

So glad I thought of doing this.

As for whether it'll work on an NBS, I don't see why not! Just cut your running light wire since you should have 3 wires running to your amber lights! One ground, one for running power, and one for turn signal power. My running light wire was the yellow wire.

Why not stay legal? By that i mean in between your disconnect run a switch in the cab so if there is ever a question it is the flip of a switch hidden say in your console

Nice build Mike. Good looking truck!

How are you liking your Roll-X bed cover? I hear so many mixed reviews it's hard to decide on one. Every cover I think will be good, I then see people bashing and griping about it. If the Roll-X doesn't leak or have serious problems then I'll probably buy it. I love the design. I have read it leaks bad and rattles like crazy. Thoughts?

You will have to get some weather stripping for the front end of the bed as there is a gap left by the cover but that's so that you can use it with a drop in bed liner. Also there's a small leak in the back but that's between the tailgate and the rest of the bed. Nothing that the Roll-X can control.

Weather stripping will completely fix the issue upfront and a complete tailgate seal kit will completely seal and fix the gate

I personally love my Roll-X. It's easy to open and close and you can still see out the back window very easily when you roll it up.

I haven't noticed a single rattle. Those who are experiencing a rattle must not have installed it properly.

My recommendation is to get the Roll-X. I don't think you'll regret it at all. It looks like a soft cover so there's no hinges or anything but it's solid aluminum under It so you can't easily cut your way into the bed (well, a thief can't)

My manager at work is waiting for them to come out with one for his 2015 Canyon. He loves the cover after seeing it on my truck

I didn't do that because I didn't even think of doing that. That's a better idea. Looks like I have plans for tonight! [emoji106] (or actually tomorrow. I think it's gonna rain tonight)

Also I thought It was legal to not have amber running lights on the front of a vehicle? I've seen several vehicles in my area that have never seen a single modification that don't have amber running lights from the factory.

Post a video or gif of how it looks at night when you turn on the signals.

Nice idea!

I took a short video last night. Will get a better one and post it to YouTube and post a link here later if it doesn't rain!

PS everyone, keep in mind I have the V3 Triton LED turn signal from VLEDs so that could be one reason why I don't have a hyperblink issue. I'll try switching back to a halogen bulb on one side and see if I get a bulb out error for anyone who is curious if it works with a halogen.

Thanks. I looked at a demo one yesterday and loved it. Just when I got home and looked around it had such mixed reviews but yours sounds pretty in depth and makes sense to me. Is the tailgate seal you speak of the $30 one from BAK that's listed as an accessory?

Yea I find it better to try to explain exactly what's wrong but how easy it is to fix when I give a review. That way manufacturers can fix it and others who see the review know exactly what to expect and aren't given a vague "it leaks, doesn't work like it should" kind of review. Because then you start thinking its a terrible product.

As for the tailgate seal from BAK, not sure honestly. I have just dealt with the small amount of water coming in from the tail gate. I have a seal kit but it wasn't that good of one. Got it for $10 on eBay. And it only really leaks when it rains hard with the wind blowing. If it's just a regular rain shower I may get a drop or 2. But when the wind blows, if it's blowing in the right direction, I may get a small puddle in the back. But nothing serious.

Edit: btw, the Roll-X comes with some weather stripping pieces to help seal certain areas to prevent leaks. No instructions on where they go though so I left them off. Some likely go to the tail gate and would help seal it. Forgot to mention this part.

The amber is also used as a side marker. Its a CYA thing if a LEO wants to hassle you.

Yea that was my worry. Not the side marker issue, but the whole CMA part against cops. Cops around here like to stop you for most anything. I'm almost surprised none have done anything about my tint. Could be because I have a plate in my windshield (it's harder to see ever since I got my windshield tinted, but it's still visible) and the plate says "Louisiana Sheriff" in big letters and below that it says "honorary member" in much smaller letters. That plate actually gets me flagged through DUI checkpoints. Haven't had to talk to anyone at any of those checkpoints in over a year [emoji1]

I'm gonna add a switch ASAP in the cab to run them on and off. That way if I do ever get pulled over I can have the ambers turned back on before the LEO ever has a chance to get out his patrol car.

Thanks Again, I will most likely order mine soon. So far I have tinted the front windows 15% and added a 5% brow. I also ordered Husky X-act Front Liners and Weathertech Rear Liner and AVS In Channel Vent Visors. Just protection really so far, nothing special yet. Really liking your lighting mods, may look into that soon. Black Bear Tuning may be coming to a location near me in March so I may go that route instead of the InTune.

No problem, glad to help man. You won't regret getting the Roll-X. I'm looking at getting husky's in the future. Not a high priority since I already have the GM weather mats. How do you like the husky's? I've head a lot more great things than bad about the those mats.

Black bear has a great tune. I want to get one of theirs but not till after I do a few more things to the truck. Want to get any and all performance upgrades I want before I do a tune by them so that the tune can be made with everything in mind.

For anyone interested, the wires are green, yellow, and black that run to the ambers in the headlights. The GREEN wire is what powers the running light function. So this is the one that would need to be cut.
