How are yall prepping your frame for paint?

Recommended Posts

So got to work on painting my frame, and prepping it is a killer! Ive been out there for an hour and only got a small section done inside the rear fender area. Just wondering what kind of tools yall use to prep the frame (aside from actually sandblasting it). Ive tried using a sander with 150 grit, a drill with steel wheel, and the most luck with a pneumatic angle grinder with a 36 grit sandpaper attachment on it. That works really good, but takes forever. Everything else doesnt even cut down the paint, unless I need a lower grit for my palm sander. Any tips/ ideas/ etc. would be appreciated!
