Paul Pendergraft
I am replacing my LT245/75/R16 and I can't decide on a tire size for my truck. I am considering the following 3 sizes: LT/255/85R16 <--33.1 inchs tall LT/265/75R16 <--31.7" tall LT/235/85R16 <--31.7" tall but may be too skinny?? I would like to see some sample pictures of all three tires on some of yer trucks and would like to know if the oddball 255 will rub. k1500chevy97
These are the LT235-85-16s that I have on my truck . These are Toyo M-55 pretty good rough tire I have about 24,000 miles on them and they still have about half the tread left after driving on gravel roads for well over 50% of those miles . As you can see by the rear wheel wells they are kinda slim but they grip the road well .
95_2500HD
Sorry, I'm not sure about the 255/85s, but I do have LT265/75/R16 tires on my 95 K2500 with no problems. I was even considering 285s. I plan on purchasing some bfg all terrains this summer. Here's a pic:
Paul Pendergraft
Thanks for those pictures, right now I'll probably be getting the 265/75/R16 tire size. I'd still like to see what the 255/85/R16 looks like mounted on a pickup before I make my final decision. Surely somebody has a photograph to share.. John Labatt
I have LT255/85-16 on my 1999 Silverado 4x4. They fit without rubbing and I didn't have to adjust the torsion bars. I will try and get a pic tonight when i get home. Only problem with that size tire is there aren't a lot of tire choices and the majority of the ones they do have are mud terrains Steve

Paul Pendergraft
Thanks for all the posts. The 255/85's look really good and I think I will get some for my GMC. I mainly wanted to make sure they don't rub and don't "pooch out" too much with a factory rim. The width is the same as the 265 and they are only an inch and a half taller and really look great. Thanks again.. -Paul

Firetiger(MN)
Only problem with that size tire is there aren't a lot of tire choices and the majority of the ones they do have are mud terrains Sad, but true. When I have to retire my BF 285's, I'm looking to go with a narrower tire and th 255/85 is on my list. BF offers the Mud Terrain, but not the All-Terrain in that size. What gives! I hope they add that to the line-up before next winter.
