Duramax Predator programmer and Volant induction n

Recommended Posts

There are two new products available for Duramax powered vehicles. The first is the Predator programmer. The Predator for the Duramax comes with three levels of performance tuning -

The first will show you a 40hp gain and works very welling for towing

The 2nd tune will show you about a 60hp gain and is considered an economy/performance tune.

The third tuning option is good for an 80-85hp gain and is considered performance tuning and isn't recommended for towing.

Other Duramax features include -

· Optimizes injection timing and fuel curves

· Adjusts speed limiters

· Ability to re-tune vehicles after factory re-flash of PCM

· Predator flash tool allows custom tuned downloads

· Multi-vehicle diagnostic tool with live data monitoring and fault code scan/erase capabilities.

The part # for the Duramax Predator is U7180 and this unit sells for $599.99.

Volant Cool Air Intake Systems are revolutionizing the way a true COLD air intake should be manufactured. Volant engineers each vehicle application to give the customer a quality intake that fits and installs like OEM. Volant modifies the air intake duct and filter box by reducing intake restrictions, rerouting and increasing the diameter of the new air duct without removing any OEM sensors from the vehicle. All intake systems are molded with a high-grade X-Link polyethylene material to insulate the air box from conducting as much heat as would metal.

The Volant induction for the Duramax is part # 15866 and the price is $279.99

Have a good day,

Tom

Mr. Byrne, we all question the true benefits of these cold air intakes.  The current airbox on my vortec 5.7L breathes cold air and has a very large filter.  Some folks have posted that when they have put an air intake or even a K and N they had decreased economy and performance.  Could it be that these engines (gas now I am speaking of) just dont see the benefits as other engines from this treatment.  Do you have an dyno results of stock intake vs this Volante?

Ok now this was on Crank & Chrome tv show one Sunday last year. Now how true it is I'm not sure but right there on the TV, (we all know we believe what we see) :) , they took a stock 2k 2wd Silverado with the 5.3 and ran it on the dyno, don't remember the exact hp but when they installed the K&N FPIK kit it produced a 6hp gain. That is the only test that I know of.

A friend of mine installed the UPD intake and said it made a difference on the throttle responce, which was crisp and very responsive, but his mileage decreased at first but has since come back some after he put a couple hundred miles on it.

Any filter setup that sucks air from under the hood is only good when the engine is cold. If you tow, etc, and generate constant heat under the hood you'll probably find that these high breather filters will decrease performance by as much as the claim to give you.. JMHO.
