5.3 Gibson Exhaust w/ clip

Got around to installing the Gibson 5656 catback last night. About 1.5 hours install including cutting behind the factory muffler with a hack saw (sore........). For the money >$400 I am very happy. It is louder than i anticipated but not to loud. No drone in V4 mode but it does sound pretty funny.

There was a small dent in one of the stainless tips and one of the pipes that goes in the muffler on the outlet side had been crushed just a little bit. I think they couldave packaged everything a little better. When i saw it on the porch one of the hangers was sticking out of the box. Lets see if the video will post.

This sounds very nice on video. How does it do for neighborhood driving? I want to do something similar, but worry about pissing off the people around me.

 

Also, will you let us know if there are any changes in the fuel economy once you get past the 'stepping on it to hear it' phase? Like I always find myself in?

I have the same exhaust ive had it for 6 months or so, after breaking in it got a hair louder but unless im on the gas hard i cant hear it in the cab. On the highway with the radio on i dont notice it. I love the sounds it makes when i do hit the gas tho.

Yes i agree. I have the same exhaust on my truck and it sounds just about right. Not too loud not to soft. No drones on mine whatsoever

I am about to buy this exhaust myself. Is everyone still happy with theirs? Any drones yet, or anything obnoxious in v4 mode? I am super excited, but don't want to jump the gun and get ahead of myself. I have done countless hours of research on this, and I love the look and sound. I have Flowmaster 44 on my 2004 and loved that. I am not sure if this will be louder, or about the same. Thanks for any and all info everyone.

Time for a Blackbear tune. Get rid of V4 mode altogether and you wont be sorry.

Im still loving my exhaust, nothing obnoxious about v4 mode. The tone does change slightly when it does kick into v4 but its hardly noticeable. Im saving up to get it tuned off anyway.
