Headers & exhaust

Yeah, you probably want this one in the performance section - not the "Ask the GM TECH" section.

But, since you asked here, I will just offer some advice. Get headers that are coated, and not just painted. Properly coated headers are not just for looks, the coating will maintain the heat inside the header where it does the most good. A side benefit is a good coating will also resist rusting. Just make sure you use clean gloves when installing the headers to avoid finger prints(natural oils in our hands will mar the finish the first time it gets hot), and make sure any grease, oil, and anything else stuck to them gets cleaned up before starting the engine. You can use Windex to clean the headers. You should look at long tube headers as well if you plan on doing more to the engine as time goes on. Also make sure you have a connection between the two pipes near the header end point. Use a 'h' or ''x' pipe for that connection.

agree

also use anti seize compound on all your bolts..also to consider, what size primary, collector, and what size pipe are going with. most people still believe in bigger is better, not always. for most 5.7's stock, minor mods, 1 5/8 primary tubes with 2 1/2 collectors, with 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 pipes is more than enough. a X pipe will do or a DI/DO muffler, than a X or H pipe is not needed.. only if running 2 SI/SO mufflers. the brand of mufflers you run is up to you..

good luck
