5.3Avalanche
I'm in the market to replace my '08 Silverado with the Z60 package. My most favourite part of this truck is that it can handle. There is next to no body roll in the corners, the ride is very smooth, and the stance looks great because it was 1" lower than the Z85. I don't the suspension on my trucks, so I want something right out of the box that works great. I want a new 2014 K2XX half ton, but I don't see anything in the order guide for a Z60 sport suspension option. Why has GM gone away from this? I get that most guys like a tall, badass looking Z71 offroad truck, but I drive onroad 95% of the time and I like nimble suspension. Is there any word that GM will offer the Z60 suspension again on this new generation? Is there maybe a street truck in the works? The benefit of the Z60 package to me is that I could still order 4x4 which is a necessity for Canadian winters. I would have gotten stuck countless times over the years blasting through country road drifts without it. Cheers.
fondupot
I think the non-z71 models have a z60 suspension.
soltys
When I was pricing/comparing mine, I found that on the silverado, if you ordered a non Z-71 with 20's, you got the sport supension included. The 18's got the Z85 but the 20's got the Z60. However, on the GMC's nothing was said about having the Z60 sport suspension with the 20's and no Z-71. I ended up getting the offroad so I can't say for sure now, but I do know that the Silverados where that way.
HDNitehawk
I have learned the hard way that the High Country has the Z60 suspension. Had I known this when I bought it I might have rethought the purchase. While I have to say it handles great and the steering is very tight, you end up feeling every bump and rock in the road. I have taken mine in and told the dealer to figure out a way to smooth it out. I would have thought a truck with the name High COUNTRY and billed as rugged luxury would handle rough roads better. crushNchowda
I think the Z71 is pretty good to be honest. My near 6,000 lb CC 6.5' bed truck handles remarkably well for what it is...
fondupot
The Sierra Denali and the Silverado High Country come with Z60 suspension packages. I think they just call it "high performance suspension package" though.
jay15892
Just checked my build sheet. I have a 2014 LTZ with the 20" wheels and I have the Z60 suspension package too. I always thought I had the Z82 trailering package but I guess not. It rides really good and I love the chrome 20" wheels!
Chris
Z82 is just trailering equipment. You can have Z60 and Z82, Z85 and Z82, and Z71 and Z82. Or Z60, z71, and z85 by themselves. Z82 isn't a suspension Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
jay15892
Guess I meant z-85 then.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5.3Avalanche
Thanks for your help guys. Odd that GM doesn't structure the ordering of the suspension packages differently to make it clearer. Cheers.
Crooks
What all is different with z60? Sway bars thicker? shocks? springs and leafs? I test drove a max tow and thought it road to rough unloaded. I test drove a regular truck and just remember the 3.08 gear sucked the ride was ok but it was a very short ride. I ended up with a z60 with a 2.5" lift. I replaced the rear shocks with 5100 now need to get the new fronts

WendysOrBust
Crooks, how does it ride now with the 5100's in the rear? I am thinking about swapping my z60 shocks for them. Thanks! Another member with a High Country with the Z60 has a positive experience upgrading to the 5100's. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/168860-bilstein-shocks-5100-6112/?p=1636196 The only issue is that the 5100's for our trucks, the front ones specifically are back ordered till the end of the month or mid July. I went ahead and ordered mine through "suspension connection" and hope they are here as soon as possible. I have the z60 on my truck as well and while the cornering is pretty flat, due to the larger front sway bar, it really doesn't mean anything because of the high seating position and lack of lateral support. It's does ride on the stiffer side but bounces allot on rough roads.
Victor Ferreira
I have the Z60 on my LTZ Silverado, and I'm happy with it. Granted though, I've never driven a K2XX Z71 for more than 3 miles, so I can't tell the difference. I find it to be very smooth, but that's only because I drove an M3 before the truck. If I ride on my dad's E-Class I immediately notice how tough it actually is.
chuckl1218
Just checked my build sheet. I have a 2014 LTZ with the Z60 suspension and Z82 trailering package with 20" wheels. Rode smooth on highway, but bounced a lot on bumps or railroad tracks. Changed shocks to Bilstein 5100s front and rear. Handles much better ( more controlled, less bounce )!
