Trans Question

Alright this is on a 2000 Dodge Ram van with the 5.2 V8.  When it's cold out and just started the tranny will stick in 2nd and won't upshift to 3rd.  After a few minutes it shifts just fine, any ideas as to what it could be?  It's got 35000 miles on it and I'm bringing it to the dealership sometime this week just want to try and find out what it could be.

has it always done this?  Sounds like what the silverados experience.  THis is normal on the 99+ chevys.  The trans is trying to heat itself up and cause less wear an tear

Nope just started recently.  Like it'll not even shift into 3rd, it'll just hold second.
